If tariffs are so bad for the country imposing them,

Canada already has tariffs on some U.S. imports, and Mexico has fees and taxes on some as well, they just don;t call them 'tariffs'. The NAFTA scams have always been one-sided rackets.
 
What was funny about the NAFTA scam was that the U.S.'s NAFTA negotiator was previously an executive of the Fruit Of The Loom company, who promptly set up in El Salvador and other sweatshop friendly shitholes, and then went bankrupt anyway.
 
This has nothing to do with the best interests of America economically, this is the already failing Imperial Empire giving a lesson "Do as you are told or else we will destroy you", when our constant abuse of others is one of the main reasons the empire is dying.

What this will be taken by the wold as is a lesson "We have been completely right that America has to be removed from global power.....full steam ahead".

Yes. There a lot of crime syndicates and sociopaths who need to expand, and we're in the way. You Red Chinese are certainly looking forward to that, due to being a failed state in rapid decline.
