If social distancing is effective

Are you saying Trump and Vice President Pence are lying to us? If social distancing doesn't work, why are they advocating it?

https://thehill.com/homenews/admini...r-widespread-testing-before-reopening-economy
The president, who has expressed optimism that parts of the country could begin easing social distancing restrictions by early May, told reporters a White House briefing that ramping up testing to levels recommended by health experts to quickly identify new clusters would be a goal, but is not a necessity to send people back to work.

Fauci advocated it and Trump went along with it.

And did I say it didn’t work? My point is we can’t guage it’s efficacy against the output of junk models. What if the *real* potential death toll was way, way lower than 2 million? Like say, in the 60,000-80,000 range.

Depending on how the deaths were recorded. We’ll go with the Birx method to keep the numbers as high as possible.

That would mean we *very unnecessarily* gutted the economy, put tens of millions of workers on unemployment, drove the country deeper into debt, killed who knows how many small businesses and put who knows how many hospitals on the brink of bankruptcy.

Historic cluster fuck doesn’t begin to describe it. And we simply don’t know.

Trump is the President. Blaming Fauci is lame.

Not difficult to understand, cunt. Especially when you’ve been told multiple times.

-I’m retired from state service
-I receive a lifetime pension
-I work a great second income job with full benefits.

Comprende, idiot?

Fucking moron

Oh, I forgot. Our resident dickhead is on the front lines. No wonder we're confined to our homes...

Are you suggesting Trump should have ignored Fauci’s recommendations?
I'm suggesting that it's lame for a President to take someone's recommendations then constantly whine about it. Same goes for such a President's fans. Either take the advice or take other action. Trump's the President, time he acted like one.

You’re suggestions are pretty lame, actually.

Shouldn’t COVID numbers in NYC and other regions start dropping like a brick?

No, becuase if you listened to the scientists and doctors, which you don't and never have, you'd know that the COVID numbers shouldn't drop, but should plateau.

"Flattening the curve".

It's literally in the phrase.

Amazing that this has to be explained to you. You probably don't have even a high school education.

Hello Darth,

When did I say that lol?

And one doesn’t need a degree in virology to know what ‘mitigation’ means. If the spread has been ‘mitigated’ then so has the death count. It’s only a question of degree. More importantly, is whether it was a meaningful degree. Or not.

It’s very easy and *very unscientific* to assume the lockdown and SD was a resounding success when it is gauged against projections that were wrong to begin. Likely, spectacularly wrong to begin with.

Solve that riddle for the class or demand a refund for your HS diploma. I assume you managed to graduate.

How do you know the original projections were wrong?

Because you doubted them?

On what basis?

If the original projections were wrong that means the entire world took drastic measures based on a falsehood. I don't think governments all over the world are wrong. I think you're wrong to downplay the severity of covid-19.

Hello Darth,

Who said I was looking for a cure lol?

My point is *we are assuming* shutting down the economy slowed down the infection/death numbers when we really have no idea whether it’s been worth the economic pain or not.

This is serious business. Why are we guessing so much?

If it was a bad move and DT always knows better than everybody else, then why has he agreed on the shut down? Has he finally made a mistake you can't give him a free pass on?

Me, I think he actually did the right thing, for once, he just waited too long before taking all the meaningful action that needed to be taken, especially considering the lack of needed PPE and ventilators. And it was totally counter productive to go through that denial phase. That was all wasted time and sent damaging mixed signals to the public.

We know we did the right thing if we have so many dying even after taking the measures we took.

Nobody wanted to shut down the economy. WE HAD TO.

Most have accepted that.
