How many use gay or racial slurs in them? Where does the PC policing stop? What about the reverse. How many times have you used the R-word? Any other racial slurs against whites? Males? Any other hateful language that you have used against others?

The fact remains we're all guilty to some extent and I haven't seen any who hold the moral high ground when it comes to spreading hatred against others. All I've seen is that some do it more than others. That doesn't mean I condone the hate, just that I know it exists.

IMO, it's a synergistic effect and getting rid of it is like untangling a very large knot. We can only do it slowly and a step at a time. No doubt you've seen that times are better for all LGBTQ in 2021 than in 1990whatever. Not perfect, but working on it. Cultural change comes slow and can't be forced without violence.

I may have called someone a "cracker" once or twice...but you know me, we've gotten into it plenty...for the most part, when I get personal with my attacks I don't usually use slurs in any of them. My attacks are almost universally about privilege and status, and the worst slur I've probably called someone is a fucker. I don't even use "white trash" as a slur either. I just call them trash.

I call out liberals and Conservatives alike for using the R-word, N-word, F-word (like I did on this thread), etc. I also try not to quote reply the slurs, because doing so proliferates them.

So yeah, you might think that I'm a pretty abusive poster -and I am- but if you look at my posts and attacks, it's deeply personal, not superficial.

Well, part of that includes acknowledging problematic things like movies and TV shows. And I agree...there's always room to improve. When I watch older movies and TV shows now, the thing that strikes me most is the lack of representation. Whether in front of or behind the camera. But I have definitely noticed that change happen in entertainment. People don't give Glee enough credit for doing what it did for LGBTQ+ kids everywhere, for example.
