All real leftists want to ban guns. If the Dems ever get control of 2/3 of both houses of Congress, and 3/4 of the state legislatures, you know damn-well that the 2nd Amendment would get repealed. Since that's pretty unlikely, the left settles for being a hindrance via regulations, handgun bans, ammunition bans, fees, etc.
But then, antifa; I've already shown that you've changed your name.

I guess I'm not a "real leftist." I have a gun. I bet there are very few of what you consider a real leftist. I want stronger gun control. I think we should do many things including extreme vetting, extreme regulation and documentation of sales with title chains, routine DMV style licensure and testing....
We could do a lot of things to reduce the carnage. We could limit the season on Republicans to maintain a sustainably low population of them, to prevent them from eating my tomatoes and roses.

in the event of a dictatorship takeover we just need them spread all over.
that way the dictator cant take them all at once.
Once a true civil war started we could be making guns for the people.
Lets remember machinists are the people too.
there are people who can make them and arm us if nessesary
but the FIRST WAVE would be the already existing guns.
