Most of us are relatively comfortable. We live with plenty to eat, tons of entertainment, and shelter from the elements.
Asking people to give that up for IDEALS is a big ask. Most won't act until it gets intolerable. Until the Reich imprisons or kills someone close to them. Yes, there are a thousand political prisoners in the Gulag. Yes, the Reich has ended free elections. But McDonalds is still selling burgers and Tik-Tok is still pumping out trash videos.
The WWII era was the "Greatest Generation," this is the least generation. Oh sure, it's Millennials who fucked it all up, BUT these are the over-indulged children of the baby boomers who handed them everything and gave out participation trophies - teaching a generation that there is no reason to strive for excellence. Now we reap the reward of our foolishness.
Fighting back takes effort - which means GenX is out. The Millennials just want a juice pack and apple slices, then they'll do what they are told. Boomers are too old to be effective.
Until it hurts directly, people will do nothing. By the time it hits them squarely between the eyes, it will likely be too late.
