What a complete and utter load of crap! This article is nothing more than a fluffed up excuse for why your president continues to send troops to Iraq. He can't abandon the war like he promised, because we are obligated now, and we have commitments to allies. This article tells us why Iraq was an immoral mistake, but then goes on to inform us of why we must stay in Iraq because it's the right thing to do! It's just amazing how convoluted pinheads can get, when they are trying to justify their hypocrisy!
One of the worst mistakes of the Bush Administration, was "making the case" for war based on poor intelligence data. There were a plethora of reasons why we had to act in Iraq, and why it was best not to wait around. All of those reasons are immediately cast aside, because the Bush Administration put all their eggs in the WMD basket, so when that fell apart, discrediting the war became simple. Pinheads haven't shut up since.
Let's start by examining the central false charge, that the Bush Administration fabricated lies and deceptions to take us to war. This is not only false, but it has been reviewed by committees, examined by courts, and critiqued by experts. There was no lie, and no deception. At best, there was faulty intelligence, which is the case with about 99% of all intelligence. With the internet, and instant access to public records, why in the hell would an Administration think they could fabricate lies and deceptions for something as important as war? It just makes no sense, because they would have had to have known the lies and deceptions would be revealed. Not even Bush is that stupid.
They told us what they believed to be true, based on intelligence they believed to be accurate at the time. Their mistake was placing such an emphasis on the WMD's, which was really a secondary issue. Among the intelligence data that wasn't wrong, is the documentation of as many as eight meetings between alQaeda and Iraq officials. These meetings took place, there is no disputing this, it is a fact of the matter. However, this bit of accurate intelligence is bundled with the inaccurate intelligence, and it is all tossed in the dumpster, or classified as "lies and deceptions."
The guy who wrote this may have a PhD, but it only goes to show, stupid people can accomplish all kinds of educational success today in America! Particularly annoying, is his false logic which makes "insurgents" into "justified combatants" with seamless effort. It may be valid, if the insurgents we are facing in Iraq, were legitimate Iraqi citizens who were fighting to liberate their country from our oppression. That is not the case. The insurgents are a combination of former Ba'ath Party members, who had the good life under Saddam and want that back, and alQaeda terrorists, who envisioned Iraq as a future base of operations. They do not represent the interest of the citizens of Iraq, 80% of which, are participating in the new democracy and renouncing the insurgents.
