If she believes America is not a racist country. Why did she change her name?
From Nimrata Randhawa to Nikki Haley..

I hope you did better research when you worked for the FBI than you do when calling people out for the name they go by. Nikki Haley was born Nimrata Nikki Randhawa & married someone w/ the last name Haley. Her family called her Nikki growing up. It means “Little One” in Punjabi.

umm, because she married a guy with the last name Haley

what do I win?

She radically changed her first name.

As to last names, to each their own -- but my female cousins kept their Slavic ethnic sounding family name even after marriage, in addition to keeping ethnic sounding first name....and proudly so

you are a lying shit stain

she made no legal change to her first name - that is still her name

As many of us, she goes by a nickname - one she was called by her parents as a small child.

Not talking about any legal change.

Talking about what she does as an adult with free choice. She presents herself publically and prominently with a thoroughly Americanized name, rather than her actual Hindi name

Barack did not do that

Nikki is the name her parents use for her - that is the name she uses.

stop being a bigot - Nikki is a fine name

There’s a long list of successful models who have changed their names, like Coco Rocha (Mikhaila Rocha), Erin Heatherton (Erin Heather Bubley), Natasha Poly (Natalya Sergeyevna Polevshchikova), Elle MacPherson (Eleanor Nancy Gow), Irina Shayk (Irina Shaykhlislamova), Stam (Jessica Stam) and perhaps the biggest mouthful of them all, Gabriella Wilde (Gabriella Zanna Vanessa Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe).

Why change to a thoroughly Americanized name bearing no resemblance to Hindi heritage? It sounds to me like they thought Hindi names would have a downside socially for their children

I get it. Immigrants may face harassment and social ridicule. Especially those who do not comport with a conventional European background.

She is adult now. I would think if u are proud of your background, you would honor your heritage and family by using the actual given names.

again, it wasn't changed. Nikki is the name she was called as a kid. That is her identity.

I find it hilarious how you bigots are making a big deal of something so trivial

I know hundreds of Russian immigrants, and I cannot think of one Sergei who goes by "Sam", not one Svetlana who goes by "Sherry", not one Borya who goes by "Bob".

In my opinion, it's a matter of self respect and pride to honor your heritage and family if it means something to you. Especially if you are presenting yourself as a politician with a proud and compelling immigrant story.

Barack Obama used his real ethnic name as an adult.

She’s not an actress.

You are the one that suggested her name changes had nothing to do with bigotry or prejudice in America.

I think changing her Hindi name to an exceedingly average Americanized name had everything to do with it. Originating from a natural concern that a little girl would be singled out, mocked and shamed for having a weird ethnic sounding name.

As an adult she had the courage and the choice to honor her family and hertitage by using her actual name, but she obviously turned her back on it.

Kamala Harris kept her Indian Sanskrit first name.

SHE DID NOT "CHANGE HER NAME"; SHE IS MARRIED TO A MAN NAMED "HALEY".

FUCKING RACIST LEFTMORONS...

You think she did it because she is racist?

What have you done to shed your racist past? Give us something tangible other than questioning Niki Haley?

Have you bowed to a black person and apologized for institutional racism?

What racist things have you done in the past? List them for us. Be specific. Tell us all about your racist self
