If Al Gore Did What Trump Wanted Pence To Do

The founders system was strong enough I think

But I’m sure they want us to close the damn door and mop up the mess while making sure we maintain the system so that trick don’t fly next go by

A more perfect union through the powers they left Us

But damn were they smart

I'm relying on the faith that not all Republicans want to be sucking the micropenis of Donald J. Trump for the rest of their lives. Sure, some will do it but most are just looking for an exit strategy.

Hello Geeko,

Well, if Trump asking his VP to overturn the 2020 election goes unpunished with no consequences- then why shouldn't Kamala HARRIS do it in 2024?

TWO CAN PLAY THIS GAME!

Trump wins the 2024 election- KAMALA CHANGES THE OUTCOME AND MAKES JOE BIDEN THE PRESIDENT!

TRUMP HAS TO TAKE A DOSE OF HIS OWN POISON!

Hilarious!

Then she could do it again in 28 to become president herself.

Hello Sawyerloggingon,

Trump tried to do pretty much what Gore actually did. He wanted to delay certification until election processes in various states could be investigated.

Wrong. Gore dropped all objections and accepted his loss by December 12th, long before it ever got the Joint Session.

During the Joint Session on January 6th 2001, which Al Gore presided over, some Democratic representatives did object to the counting of the Florida electoral votes but Vice President Al Gore ruled the objection out of order because it would have required a Senator to also object and none did. The certified slates of electors from all States were accepted and the result was certified that GWB won.

Al Gore would have been out of order if he had done what Trump wanted Pence to do and rejected any of the certified electors.

Hello Dutch,

I'm sure all of that will be rectified by November 2024. I have faith in the American people.

I have faith that we will endure. I do not have faith that Republicans won't foolishly elect Trump subservient Secretaries of State who would throw out elections and substitute their own electors, essentially rendering the votes of the people meaningless.

Ooppps

It’s New Mexico not Texas

Sorry folks

Officials in Otero County, New Mexico, voted to certify primary election results on Friday in compliance with a state Supreme Court order after refusing to do so, citing concerns about voting machines.

In a 2-1 vote, the Republican-led commission certified the county's results from its June 7 primary. One of the commissioners, Vickie Marquardt, said she voted to certify over fears of criminal charges and possible jail time.

Hello evince,

The founders were very smart, but they could not foresee everything. Now that political morals seem to have vanished from one party I would expect the Constitution to be tested for every possible weakness, just like McConnell simply refusing to bring Garland's SCOTUS nomination to a vote 9 months before the election. Just because the Constitution didn't REQUIRE him to do it during the term in which the nomination was made. That's just underhanded skullduggery. The founders hoped the system would be in the hands of people with at least SOME integrity. When the document says how something is done, it assumes the people will do it in a reasonable time and not delay it for political reasons.

We could use a new amendment creating more rules for how the SCOTUS is seated, possibly including term limits. We don't want another political 'McConnell delay.' Especially when the same people later turn one around in a month when the nominee is on their side. That's BS.

I think the law actually says some form of a timely manner

Mcconnall just owned too much power and cheated out right and there was Not enough time to Force him to do it before the Next election

I should go look

https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/nominations/supreme-court

Mc Connall broke the law surrounding the appointment

The law gives him no path to refuse to hold a hearing on a nominee

It says the president of the untied states makes a nomination

And the senate holds a hearing

McConnall held that appointment off stating that there was some basis for him to refuse

There is no part of any laws saying he had such power

He broke the oath he took to do the senates business assigned him

He simply made it up out of whole cloth

On no basis

Claiming he just didn’t want to do it for any reason was lies

The right had too much political power for mcConnall to be punished in time for Obama to get his constitutionally commanded power honored

Just like the republicans backed trumps illegal actions by not voting to impeach trump

Too many republicans placed party over the constitution

When a vacancy occurs on the Supreme Court, the President of the United States is given the authority, under Article II of the United States Constitution, to nominate a person to fill the vacancy. The nomination is referred to the United States Senate, where the Senate Judiciary Committee holds a hearing where the nominee provides testimony and responds to questions from members of the panel. Traditionally, the Committee refers the nomination to the full Senate for consideration.

No where in that does it say black presidents don’t get that pick

It says THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

Obama was the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

SO mcconnall claimed that pick should be given to some person who was not president at the time of the vacancy

Illegal

I shortened it to take out non related issues

No where in that is any power given to anyone to stop that process

We are yet in a position to punish mcconnall for his breach of the constitution
