Idaho wants to make it illegal for schools to teach students how to think critically

Idaho lawmakers pushed through a bill that would bar schools from teaching about racism.

Some GOP lawmakers said discussions about racism are teaching kids to "hate their country," the Idaho Statesman reported.

Students, however, said the discussions on racism don't teach them to hate their country but instead allow them to have a more clear and accurate understanding of the US's history. That understanding, they said, is key so that wrongs can be corrected.

The peckerwoods can't stem the tide that is about to engulf them

They are freaking out about non whitewashed history being taught

Define "thinking critically." Critical Pedagogy, a radial Leftist theory on teaching does exactly the opposite for example. So define the terms, because I'll bet those complaining about this are full of shit and are using the terms in a completely bullshit manner.

What's a "more clear and accurate manner" of understanding US history? For example, did the Great Lakes Indian tribes under Tecumseh get screwed by the US because they chose to side with Britain in the War of 1812 and when Britain pulled out and negotiated a peace the US as part of that imposed onerous conditions on those tribes for essentially losing their war with them? How about the Apache? They were for all intents just nomadic bandits and horse thieves nobody, including other Indian tribes, liked. Was the US stomping them down for that somehow unjust?

I bet the "history" these kids are getting is one that is thoroughly bleached and censored by the Left to fit a narrative and has nothing to do with reality.

I dont like anyone indoctrinating the legitimacy of the word "race." And In any light.

Where's the starting gun? Where's the finish line. Why is it a race?

Anyone can make up a word and puke a deffinition for it. Neither action makes it a legitimate word. Zoology is a subjectivist pseudoscience long since replaced by genetics.

"Race" is an artifact and logical error. It's a reified equivocation fallacy. It was always meant for war.

The theory acknowledges how slavery and segregation played a role in the current situation of Black Americans and other people of color.

Teabaggers (www.teaparty.org) are such retards, learning about racism isn't "hating" your country.

I guess teabaggers (www.teaparty.org) want to eliminate the history of the American Indian being given smallpox blankets in the 1800's too.

Just eliminate the history of the holocaust too.

I guess eliminate everything about covid-19 will be next.

As usuall, the title of the thread is misleading because this thread is about a dim spin.

I applaud Idaho for what they are STOPPING. We need lots more states to step up and do the same.

What a pile of bullshit

Some will prefer history as dictated by fascists and racists, others will report it in a manner that fascists and racists do not like.
Take the deception of the Zionist narrative regarding Palestine, for example, wherein the murder and displacement of almost a million indigenous Palestinians by racist European Jews has been perverted and misrepresented as brave, homeless Jews returning to an empty country that they falsely claimed as their historical home . I believe that you subscribe to that falsehood yourself ? Many others here do- and this is despite the fact that authoritative history and international law confirm that the narrative is nonsense.
Of course, any effort to revive that particular truth in American schools will meet the opposition of the Israel lobby today and , in the example of the slaughter and displacement of First Americans, the opposition of all those who have benefited materially from that particular genocide.

Of course, what would expect would you expect from a racist like Guano? It will be full of horseshit like Critical Race Theory and history revisionism.

Our, the United States, greatness lies in the ideals of government found in the Declaration and Constitution.

As humans,, we are flawed.. consequently, a government of, for, and by the people is flawed.

Striving to live up to the ideals of our founders requires acknowledging the flaws of the past. It is possible to present those failures while talking about progress. It is possible to discuss our history, and current reality, regarding racism, while acknowledging our progress and reflecting on our ideals.

Thinking critically about history requires an acknowledgment of success and failure. Discussion and debate, understanding bias and perspective, allow for conclusions not indoctrination.

Any theory, including critical race, can be done with an educational, not indoctrination, goal. The fear being created about a theory being presented to our students is laughable.

Talk about "cancel culture"...
