I was right all along about the Obamacare website

The Force is With Me
“So much testing of the new system was so far behind schedule, I was not confident it would work well,” Richard S. Foster, who retired in January as chief actuary of the Medicare program, said in an interview last week.

WASHINGTON — In March, Henry Chao, the chief digital architect for the Obama administration’s new online insurance marketplace, told industry executives that he was deeply worried about the Web site’s debut. “Let’s just make sure it’s not a third-world experience,” he told them.

Two weeks after the rollout, few would say his hopes were realized.

For the past 12 days, a system costing more than $400 million and billed as a one-stop click-and-go hub for citizens seeking health insurance has thwarted the efforts of millions to simply log in. The growing national outcry has deeply embarrassed the White House, which has refused to say how many people have enrolled through the federal exchange.

Even some supporters of the Affordable Care Act worry that the flaws in the system, if not quickly fixed, could threaten the fiscal health of the insurance initiative, which depends on throngs of customers to spread the risk and keep prices low.

“These are not glitches,” said an insurance executive who has participated in many conference calls on the federal exchange. Like many people interviewed for this article, the executive spoke on the condition of anonymity, saying he did not wish to alienate the federal officials with whom he works. “The extent of the problems is pretty enormous. At the end of our calls, people say, ‘It’s awful, just awful.’ ”

Interviews with two dozen contractors, current and former government officials, insurance executives and consumer advocates, as well as an examination of confidential administration documents, point to a series of missteps — financial, technical and managerial — that led to the troubles.

Independent of the discussions about the voracity of the law, the development of the website was abysmal and amateurish .. and had FAR too little testing .. all of which is exactly what I said.

It's clear that we need to kick all Democrats and at least 50% of Republicans out of Washington and start over.

To avoid giving ammunition to Republicans opposed to the project, the administration put off issuing several major rules until after last November’s elections. The Republican-controlled House blocked funds. More than 30 states refused to set up their own exchanges, requiring the federal government to vastly expand its project in unexpected ways.

from you link.

Like everything else it was sabotaged by the right.

I bet they will find someone on the creative staff who harmed it from the inside too

why did the states refuse to do their part?

I thought you guys claim the states should be in control as much as possible.

WHY did so many states refuse to do this job?

More Big Government tech woes...or should I say Canadian Big Business woes?

The glitch-plagued Obamacare rollout might be just the beginning: A series of potential technology problems could thwart the Obama administration’s goal of getting 7 million people enrolled in the new exchanges by the end of March.

Millions of people have already encountered error messages, delays, crashes and stuck accounts.

Technology experts and Obamacare backers worry that each step ahead in the process — filling out applications, checking on subsidies and selecting a health insurance plan — creates a potential technology choke point.

And that doesn’t even count any additional chaos when people try to use their new health insurance come January.

Due to the IMPRESSIVE success of the Obamacare websites, they don't work :rofl2:

Why did so many states REFUSE to do their job here and forced the Feds to try and cover the states asses in this deal?

It is LAW of the LAND passed by the people and VETTED by the Scotus.

Why did so many states REFUSE to do their countrys work?

some govenors don't want people to have healthcare.

You would have to ask them why they don't want their people to get needed treatment

How secure are the exchanges?

It's understandable to have concerns about any program that will, by nature, keep troves of sensitive information online.

As CBS News reported this month, personal information for many new customers will be routed from a federal datahub to the state-based exchanges, opening up the possibility of security breaches. Critics have said this datahub will be a "hacker's dream," and others have warned of the potential for fraudsters to create phony Obamacare pages that could trick would-be customers into giving away their information.

The computer system was originally designed to back up the state designs.

then the right wing govs said fuck you I don't want my poor people covered with healthcare because I hate the president more than I like the people.

So the site was forced to do what it wasn't originally designed for.

I'll just bet you it turns out their is something in the code placed there by some right leaning writer.

Its just like the Rs

The Obamacare exchange signup website, Healthcare.gov, was largely incapacitated over its first week in action. It's fair to question why the administration, obviously aware that it would be under heavy scrutiny from the law's skeptics, didn't do more to avoid this embarrassment.

It remains to be seen how and when the glitches will be fully fixed. Would-be enrollees have until mid-December to sign up in order to get coverage beginning next year, meaning there's some time to make sure the system is running smoothly. But the success of the program could be contingent on that happening sooner rather than later.

Boy, it sure seems that the Obama has had a lot of "unexpected" shit happen to his poor ass while trying to take over 1/6 of the economy.

He didn't expect the number of people coming to the website.

He didn't expect the states would refuse to set up their own exchanges.

Now why wouldn't he expect the states would refuse to set up their own exchanges? Why should they? Why couldn't he see it coming? None of this has anything to do with the shitty website except they are convenient excuses for sycophants like you to defend the incompetent boob that is Obama

Is that the new spin? The website was only a back up to the state websites? Hmmm, why didn't you tell us that 2 weeks ago? Surely that fact could have come up then couldn't it have? Did it take this long for Media Matters and ThinkProgress to tell you this?

You guys are off your game Deshy.

Did the space aliens tell you all of this?

This turkey is looking more and more as if it will collapse like a sand castle at high tide all by itself.

Not only does its' survival depend on lots of young, healthy people to buy-in (and I'm thinking many won't), the tech nightmare is frustrating millions, according to news reports
...

Here's an example of the incompetence of the Obama health czars:

Two allies of the administration, both of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the controversy surrounding the rollout, said they approached White House officials this year to raise concerns that the federal exchange was not ready to launch.

In both cases, Obama officials assured them there was no cause for alarm.

Robert Laszewski, a health-care consultant with clients in the insurance industry, said insurers were complaining loudly that the site, www.healthcare.gov, was not working smoothly during frequent teleconferences with officials at the Department of Health and Human Services before the exchange’s launch and afterward. “People were pulling out their hair,” he said.

Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee sent a letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Tuesday demanding that she disclose exactly how many consumers have purchased health plans through the new exchanges.

Rep. Robert E. Andrews (D-N.J.) said concern over the law “has morphed from a political issue to a consumer issue in the past month.” He said he spoke with a constituent who was upset that he had not been able to get on the site.

Outside the White House, people familiar with the setup efforts had been warning of chaos in the days and months leading up to Oct. 1.
