The Internal Revenue Service has started using artificial intelligence to investigate tax evasion at multibillion-dollar partnerships as it looks for ways to better police hedge funds, private equity groups, real estate investors and large law firms.

The announcement on Friday demonstrated how a more muscular I.R.S. is using some of the $80 billion allocated through last year’s Inflation Reduction Act to target the wealthiest Americans and tackle the kinds of cases that had become too complex and cumbersome for the beleaguered agency to handle.

What if they catch the bidens?

You know your economic system has some problems when it requires the use of AI to figure out how the wealthiest are hiding their money from the commonweal.

That is not where the money is.

who benefits from tax loopholes? the rich. why? because they are connected to the lawmakers who make those loopholes.

It is absolutely idiotic to think that rich people don't hire the best tax lawyers to help protect their money legally

so with hundreds of millions of middle and lower class people to investigate and find tax cheats, that IS where the money is.

That would be akin to looking for change in the couch cushions as opposed to looking in the Scrooge McDuck room full of gold coins.

It is the height of idiocy to believe that the 'scrooge mcducks' of the nation wouldn't have the best tax lawyers to protect their money legally

And that's the problem. The tax code is not fair because those with more money can hide more of it while those with less money are left to fend for themselves.

But did they give AI guns so that AI could threaten taxpayers like the far right claimed was going to happen?

That is why you go after those that are the biggest source of revenue loss. Most middle and low income Americans owe little income taxes so there is not much to find. If I cheat on my income taxes and government catches me, they might get $200.

It is silly to spend time going after low and middle-income taxpayers and serves no purpose except for those looking for more government plots.

math isn't your strong suit, is it? what gives you more money? finding 20 millionaire tax cheats for 20k each? or 150 MILLION tax cheats for 200 dollars each?

The claim that they are coming after the wealthy only is yet another a lie....they are coming after everybody.....with a special focus on those that the Revolution wants to hammer.
