I predict that the S&P 500 will be well under 5,000 by September 30th

our central bank in private hands is the bad kind of fascism.

I'm for food stamps and roads, and police.

I'm not a libertarian dumbass.

Neither am I, but since idiots keep trying to equate fascism with Hitler and Mussolini and death camps n stuff it's fun to post other evidence it can work better in some instances short term than idiot ideological rubbish fantasies. As voters get more stupid and deranged fascism is probably going to be the go to default state.

do you think large corporations were somehow behind the largesse of all the fdr stuff?

fascism is just the union of state and corporate power.

it could be very freedom oriented, and often has been, when the banker overlords are growing a society instead of murdering it.

FDR's programs spent money on tools, farm equipment, concrete work, huge electric power grids and dams, highways, train stations, etc. Germany's govt., followed by Hitler's regime and Mussolini, spent theirs on military hardware and wars in Spain and stuff nearly all made outside of Germany, while the U.S. paid his reparations, which Hitler then repudiated.

FDR's provided jobs and business profits in the domestic economy, and kept the immigration laws passed in the 1920's. His big failure was the farm program; being a rich kid with no clue, he didn't realize most farmers were sharecroppers, not land owners, and the higher prices weren't passed along by the owners to the sharecroppers, white or black. But at least it keep some of the big farms solvent and hiring sharecroppers anyway.

By 1937 the GDP was back to 1920's levels, with a small depression for a year or so due ti his attempt to add more seats to the Supreme Court, not a smart move but no different than what a Republican would have tried, so they can't snivel. Unemployment remained at around 10%, still better than Hoover's 30%, but consumer demand was still low, and new business investment was still leery of the stock markets, and would remain that way until well into the 1950's. Consumer demand boomed in 1947 and stayed on a roll for along time, but people still avoided Wall Street, a good thing imho.

Wasn't perfect but a far better leadership than the GOP was ever going to provide in those days. their financial backers just hid out on their estates and hired private armies and spent all their time playing golf and crying for the Feds to run around and gun down all those uppity proles. Hoover lost in no small part because he had the Army launch bayonet charges on unarmed veterans camped out in a big HooverVille in DC., not a smart move at all at the time. All these regulations libertoons whine and snivel about are all self-inflicted, every last one of them

yes.

capitalism had to be forced to RAISE ALL SHIPS, as those pollyanna banker coksnaks love to say.

it's bold for you describe yourself that way.

lot more people like me than like you. That's why Trump got elected and not idiots like Ron Paul or Jeb Bush, and why a totally corrupt piece of shit like Biden could beat out Bernie easily.

I'm hoping the Democrats get even dumber and nominate one of their racist halfwits like Maxine Waters or someone similar, like that moron in NYC running for Mayor. I really hope that morons wins; that will send more of the bigger companies and Wall Street to other states in drives.

Some were, like the Duponts, and Raskob, at least when it came to cooperating during WW II, anyway. Most of the money for the projects was spent locally, and hired local people, with exceptions like Hoover Dam and the TVA, which put a lot of young men on the roads, and half or more of their wages were sent to their parents, don't remember at the moment which programs, CCC for one, I think, built all the state parks up and the like. Some were ruled 'illegal' later on, but hey, a lot of people could food on their tables and learn trades until then. A lot of small town construction company startups got wealthy from building all those farm to market roads that blanket Texas, for instance. One of my grandfather's friends started out with a bulldozer and gravel truck, bought on credit, and did very very well. Another started up a big garage and did well, too, working on big construction equipment and trucks, and one of his grandkids is still running that business today.

and it is good to have large corporations able to gear up in times of need.

the problem is when those vendors start wagging the dog, and funding forever war administrations.

it's not even other people's money.

it's money they made for themselves and then put the debt on every single citizen.

sounds like communism if you ask me.

I liked Bernie.

when Bernie first hit the road in 2014 or whenever, he was for closing the border.

then the Clintons jerked his jock into line and showed him the Clinton kill list.
