This is such a basic, easy concept.

But this is what demagogues like Trump do. They fool people - they hate our flag, and our military!

INTENT - it is all about intent.

It seems impossible to have an honest conversation about this stuff. The actual issue that Kaep and others are protesting is very uncomfortable. The last thing some of the knee-jerkers want to do is actually confront it and talk about it. So much easier to say that they're "spitting on our military," or whatever emo reaction they choose to have about it.

It's not ABOUT the flag - it's about what the country is currently allowing. Don't mischaracterize it for an agenda.

As for "oppressed," I think that language is too strong, but I get the sentiment. But we've spoken about this. It's not right that those in the black community are treated differently by authority - and it is undeniable that they are. Equality is one of our core principles - certainly one of our most sacred ideals.

Why isn't anyone talking about THAT? That's why this whole "spitting on the flag/military" narrative is such a typical shiny object thing. It's not comfortable to address the real issue. Trump certainly won't.

Every soldier believe they fight for our rights, you are the one who is misguided on this issue. My husband says he believed he fought to protect freedom and our rights in this country. I'm not sure what you were fighting for if you don't believe in the right to protest which is guaranteed by the Constitution.
