if I have to watch one more commercial, receive one more piece of literature, get another pop up on my phone, or robo calls, I think that would be it, at this point, it is nauseating.

And we can thank the Roberts Court’s Citizens United fiasco for it all. Anyone who doesn’t think foreign nations and entities are pouring millions into this or any election via secret donors is totally naive
 
We can certainly agree on not missing this barrage of useless information.

But if you think Citizens United was the beginning of foreign money, you are mistaken.

Sadly, there is zero chance that any legislation will ever get signed into law to return sanity into campaign spending.

Citizens United wasn’t the beginning, but it made it easier, secret and anonymous donors weren’t a thing prior to Citizens United

Easier, yes. But its been a thing for quite a long time. Currying favor on an economy as big as ours has been worth wild for a long time.

But easier is better for them, certainly.

Never been done on the level it is now, preciously it was illegal for a candidate to accept illegal money, now, with secret donors, anything goes

Sorry pal, I have a life, and seemingly unlike you, it doesn’t revolve around who gets elected to what, I have already lived thru all kinds of power changes, and before I die, I am sure I will love thru quite a few more

making it easier has certainly opened the floodgates (look at published numbers on 2022 campaign spending) but just because it was harder doesn't mean it didn't occur and in rather large quantities.

Our old republic is toast,
and instead of figuring out how to replace it,
we're wasting our time trying to save it in two totally different ways,
