I like this new Pope, and I ain't Catholic

We were just talking about this. jb is Catholic, obviously I'm not. He should be commended for his outreach.

Unfortunately, we also discussed our fear some nutcase homophobe like SJJ or RacistX or his ilk will try to end his life.
 
I do like what the new pope is saying about this; I just wonder how much the entrenched interests at the Vatican will let him change. Talk is cheap. I hope he really can change the culture, but my guess is he won't; that he's just being used as a friendly face to cover up all the scandals that have been happening there.

What can I say? color me cynical...
