I know you think praying at government events is normal, but it's really not.

Haiku

Makes the ganglia twitch.
I think he has a point...

Politicians must stop inviting their pet religions into the Federal Government, into the Congress, into the White House -- where they should be engaged in doing the people's business. It is not harmless; indeed, it is dangerous and divisive for the nation -- and it is certainly not democratic.

I shudder when I think of electing a leader who has some overt religious ideology lodged in his brain circuitry. Especially when it's one of the wackier religions. Jesus, himself, told Bush the Lessor to invade the Middle East.

Mitt Romney's beliefs about the Presidency were even stranger. Brigham Young ran for President, as well. He told Mormons (now incorporated in scripture) when a Morman man becomes President, Jesus will come to earth with his three wives. He's going to live in Independence, Missouri because he really liked it there when he visited 2,000 years ago. (Ask Mitt. He'll tell you it's true. He'll even tell you that the reason Mormons got into polygamy was because they were just trying to emulate Jesus.) Jesus will announce to the world that Mormon is the only true religion, and he will rule the world from Missouri, where Mitt will relocate the nation's capitol.

Folks, this is a physical brain disorder. It can be seen on a scan.

And because we elect Presidents with brain disorders (which should be scanned for, by the way) -- they invite religious dogma merchants into the Government. And they insert public praying into official business, which is utterly bizarre when you think about it. It's dis-empowering because it suggests divine intervention -- an idea which stunts the evolution of consciousness in humans and mitigates social responsibility tipping individuals toward sociopathy. It is not the same as the Pledge of Allegiance.

The political deference toward the religion industry encourages the churches to see themselves as the imperial moral compass of the Federal Government. They bring a taint to American culture that leaves an impression that the Constitution was written by god and the founders were "just like the twelve apostles" and this nation was actually founded on the current majority religion. And everyone buys-in to the illusion that these free-range preachers are speaking both to god and for god when they chant their cant before Congress and the American people -- from the blessed pulpit of the Federal Government.

We are talking massive brain programming, here, across great swaths of American culture. And church leaders spread this mind virus back to their congregations, who, in turn, give them donations to fund lobbyists to convince legislators that their dogmatic, stream-of-consciousness values and ideologies must be legislated into law. It will not only make Jesus happy, but the preachers can guarantee votes that can be elicited from the pulpit.

We need to stop the religious crazy in government -- which, sadly, is regarded as American-folly, internationally. There is absolutely no need to pray in government. It doesn't help. God has no intention of blessing anything in the Beltway. People can pray at home if they must, in private, before they arrive at public events.

Religion extended into government has a corrupting, undemocratic effect.

How ashamed were you that Rick Warren was asked to speak at President Obama's inauguration?

This must stop.

The American Taliban must be cast out of government, now.

Elected officials need to address the difficult issues of the future, such as climate change, and stop relying on divine intervention that we can summon at a later date. Religious anti-science dogma is causing untold suffering for the people this government should be protecting and serving. Remember stem cell research? The climate deniers? These are people processing information in their brain stems rather than the more evolved "thinking" lobes. This is brain damage and, mixed with organized religion and corporate politics, it is dangerous to a democracy.

When elected officials use terms like "it's god's will" or "doinig god's work" or "I consulted with a higher father" they should be hastily removed from office and offered a medical evaluation.

They are not leaders. They are followers. They do not belong in the people's government.

The place for religion is not in government. You can read the entire piece at the link with illustrations.

It could be funny watching some of the crazier of the supernatural believers display their version of witchcraft.

You should start by removing the 1956 passed motto 'In God We Trust' from your paper currency and replacing it with the motto that existed before, ' E pluribus unum.' Far more in line with 2012 and far more representative of a modern go-ahead nation of different philsophies and weird religions.
Then ban ALL tele-evangelists. These people are ruining your society and their madison avenue led bullshit is permeating the whole world.
If you want to pray or sing or raise your hands in hallelujah to the lies of the manipulators then do so, but do not tell those that choose not to that they are, in some way, wrong.
