I guess we really are running out of diesel

ROFLMAO.. because one station has a pump closed it means we are out of fuel? Dang.. I saw a station with 2 pumps closed yesterday and the other 8 pumps were still selling gas for $3.39. How could that happen if we have run out of gas?

When reports of a diesel supply shortage began making headlines last week, panic ensued as people wondered what would happen to the U.S. economy if supply continued to fall. However, one analyst said the numbers were taken out of context.

Oil demand plummeted during the COVID-19 and subsequently skyrocketed when the economy reopened, exhausting refineries as they tried to keep up with supply. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has elicited sanctions against Russian imported oil, and the Energy Information Administration (EIA) oil metrics show only 25 days of diesel remain in storage.
'Taken Out Of Context'

Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy Patrick De Haan said the numbers of days remaining were taken out of context and meant for analysts to interpret rather than the general public.

"It's a number that means something to an analyst, but it's probably not something any Americans outside of that would have context for," De Haan told Newsweek. "Subtle changes are the context here."
What Is The Context?

De Haan said the number of days left of diesel fluctuates by fractions of a percentage point each week.

"It tells us if refineries are able to keep up with supply or if demand exceeds supply," he said. "It's a number that moves very slowly. It has been 25.4 and gone up to 25.9 and now it's 25.8. That doesn't mean we are going to run of fuel in 25.8 days unless every single refinery shuts down overnight, which is never going to happen.

Um. No.

CLAIM: The United States is on the verge of running out of diesel fuel.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. While data from the Energy Information Administration shows that the U.S. has about a 25-day supply of diesel, the country will not actually run out of fuel soon, experts confirmed to The Associated Press. This figure doesn’t account for ongoing diesel production."

I thought the midterms would have taught you that Americans aren't responding well to MAGA propaganda.

Well done. The reason Dems are starting to do well is that we're not letting propaganda go without fact-checking.

MAGAs success is based on suppressing actual facts.

All those pumps draw from the same tank(s). But you knew that, didn't you?

BTW, Gas here is $4.15. I paid $4.78 for Hi-test.

You just can't stop being an obnoxious cunt, can you?

Diesel inventories in the U.S. have not been so low since 2008, with the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reporting that, as of October 14, the country had 25.4 days left of distillate supplies—which include diesel, jet fuel and heating oil.

The supply crunch is particularly severe in the East Coast, according to analysts who previously talked to Newsweek.

Mansfield Energy, a major fuel supply and logistics company based in Georgia and operating in every U.S. state, wrote in a recent news release that the "East Coast fuel markets are facing diesel supply constraints due to market economics and tight inventories."

According to the fuel supply company, extremely high diesel prices—which have surged due to low inventories combined with high demand—are concentrated in the North East, while supply outages are currently hitting the Southeast.

Poor Dick needs to be circumcised!

All pumps at one station may draw from the same tank but being out of fuel is not the only reason a pump might not be working. They can malfunction in multiple ways. The pump being closed doesn't even prove the station is out of diesel let alone the entire country. I have often seen stations with closed pumps because their scheduled delivery hasn't arrived which had nothing to do with a national fuel shortage.

BTW, I saw a station with gas at $3.05 on Monday.
