Either way, we have two powerful women in a Blue state that will easily beat any Republican. NY Dems will NOT be sending de Blasio to the general against the Republican.

Hochul is very popular way up north, where Dems don't typically fare well.

Absolutely. Manchin isn't a Democrat.

She had a long history in local politics upstate with a lot of name recognition. I don't know why she won by such a wide margin, and I suppose we could see her voting record in the one term she was in Congress before being Cuomo's running mate.

Many of her detractors are saying that she's a Republican. I'd have to research that. Overwhelmingly, the problem in this state is that it's run by lobbyists. She's clearing house in Albany. If they aren't lobbyists working in the Capitol, it's the family members of same.

We always hear about cleaning house. I'd love to see it happen.
 
I am far less offended by corruption than by bad policy.
Corruption only costs us millions.
Bad policy costs us billions.

That's why I always vote for policy positions and never for people.
People are all lacking in one way or another.

I have been declining handshakes since COVID. It throws a lot of people off, but I don't think I've hurt anyone's feelings. And if I did, I don't care. Visited and spent time in Bolzano, Padua, Venice, Milano, skied Madonna and Cortina. Fluent in Südtirol dialect (which is basically Austrian or Bavarian) . Spoke very basic, passable Italian while there. (One year is not enough for me to be an intermediate speaker.)
