Tea Party leaders: Liberals risk God’s wrath with ‘covetous’ opposition to income inequality

Tea Party leaders suggested this week that efforts to reduce income equality were sinful and would invite God’s wrathful judgment.

Howard Kaloogian, a former California state lawmaker and co-founder of Tea Party Express, told a group of conservative activists that liberals were wicked for working to help the poor, reported Right Wing Watch.

“I think it’s clear that God has a position on many of the things we deem political today, from life to theft to the doctrine of covetousness, which by the way seems to be the promotion of the left,” Kaloogian said. “You know, they talk about ‘income inequality,’ well what is that but covetousness? So how could somebody support that cause if they’re biblical believing Christians?”

Kaloogian is probably best known for helping to convince CBS to drop plans to air the “Reagans” docudrama and for posting an inaccurate photo on the website for his unsuccessful 2006 run for the U.S. House.

The photo was described as a busy street scene in Baghdad, but was instead Istanbul.

During the same conference call, the head of Tea Party Unity told activists in apocalyptic language that God would intervene on their behalf.

“This country has been on the brink of complete disaster and collapse in several occasions in our national history,” said TPU head Rick Scarborough. “During the Roaring Twenties, socially this country was on the brink and deserved judgment. Go back during the pre-Civil War era, when we were buying and selling human beings; we deserved God’s judgment.”

But Scarborough, who has suggested a class action lawsuit against homosexuality, said Christians had always managed to invite God’s intervention instead of His wrath.

“That’s what I pray for and work for in this latter period of our national history,” Scarborough said. “No matter what we do, if God doesn’t intervene the country is lost. But I know this, all the prayers in the world won’t change this country and God’s not going to act if those of us who I call the remnant don’t get involved, pay the price, like you’re doing, (and) I encourage you to continue doing that.”

I mainly debate on a Christian website! Believe me when I tell you that Christianity is full of goats and wolves in sheep's clothing.

I'm shunned as an agnostic Christian democratic socialist.lol

It's funny. The republican party is supposed to represent Christian values, but it seems like the Christian hating democrats are more inline with Christians values(even though they may be judas in disguised). Support these causes so they can skim.

I find the Republican party to be totally lost and misguided.

They hate government but praise wealth, and say government regulation hurts economic growth. What they don't realize is that the wealthy people they praise are behind the government regulations.

What do you have against goats?

Nothing wrong with preaching against communism, zapper.

Move along, everyone! Nothing to see here!

It's right there in the Bible...

"If among you one of your fellow humans should become poor, in any of the towns of the land which
God gave to you, you shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against them, but you
shall open your heart and give them what is needed, whatever it may be."
Deuteronomy 15:7

Is the above "communism"?

And now he's groaning; because a reference was made, regarding his groaning. :palm:

Groaning about the groaning you were originally groaning about is well...................................

In its purest form, yes. But here's the difference: When God speaks it, you do it. You do it because God is omnipotent and all things are before him. On the other hand, when your heroes, the tyrants, try to tackle communism, it spells disaster for everyone. It's one reason why the former USSR fell apart. Why ANY American would try and embrace this failed system is beyond me.

SO.... you agree that the Deuteronomy quote commands you to be overwhelmingly generous and share as much as you need to with the poor.... yet, you don't do it. Guess we know where YOUR gonna go after your brief meeting with St. Pete....pack some suntan lotion... it's warm where you're headin'

Lesse: You've spoken in ignorance about me; you've wrested scripture to your own understanding, and you've pronounced me fit for Hell as if you were the Creator Himself. Only a finger pointing liberal could overstep his bounds this far and still keep a straight face.

Maineman, the difference is that conservatives actually do as commanded. Liberals expect the government to do it for them, and God forbid someone in need actually cross their path...

Among the sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance...

“You shall not oppress a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your brothers or one of the sojourners who are in your land within your towns."
~Deuteronomy 24:14

“You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired worker shall not remain with you all night until the morning."
~Leviticus 19:13

"Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts."
~James 5:4

How come I have yet to see either of the Koch brothers give away all they have and follow Christ yet?
