Hurricanes show solar and wind to be losers

In another blow to "green" energy, the recent two hurricanes proved that solar arrays and wind turbines are not able to withstand them. Not only will it cost tens, if not
hundreds of millions to replace and repair these arrays, insurers are set to raise rates covering them through the rafters. So much for "cheap, clean, energy..."

Puerto Rico 2017 after a hurricane...

And not just hurricanes...

Conventional power plants can be built to withstand extreme weather and events, solar and wind not so much.

Looks like people where solar and wind are a serious source of power will be paying a lot more for their electricity...

And why is it good to have no wind or solar? Are you worried about hurricanes in Oklahoma or Wyoming?
Because solar, followed by wind, are the most expensive, least efficient, and basically worst ways to produce large amounts of electricity there are. Oklahoma has hail and tornados. Wyoming has snow and is far enough north to reduce capacity factor to about 20% on average.

And how does new technology improve? By abandoning it? No.

And oil will continue to get more and more expensive. And it will eventually run out.

Neither wind nor solar are "new technology." In fact, both are nearly two centuries old.

Not necessarily. We keep finding more and more oil, and also, oil is renewable unlike wind and solar. Yes, we can make more oil. Even the planet is doing that although the natural process takes a very long time to finish.

Yes, wind and solar are not new. But the current technology being used is new.

Yes, keep finding more oil. But it takes millions of years to convert organic material to oil. And we are pulling it out at a much faster rate.

We are burning through the fuel faster than it is made. Worldwide we go through roughly 93 million barrels a day.
According to https://www.bing.com/search?q=how+m...ED2B4B0D2D58C043DAB&FORM=QBRE&sp=6&ghc=1&lq=0

It is fine today, but certainly not sustainable.

What technology? The method both use to produce electricity is the same. They are little more efficient today than they were say 50 years ago.

Doesn't change that we can make more. But the real solution to our large-scale energy needs is nuclear backed by natural gas. Solar and wind are useless and expensive.

And they do not need to be attached to a grid. I know people who use wind as a source of electricity in isolated cabins. They seem happy.

We can make more oil? That is news to me. How much does a barrel of manmade oil cost?

And as recent events have shown us, ignoring climate change is going to cost more than “hundreds of millions”

And, for that extremely limited use, they're fine. They aren't fine for powering a large city or a nation's industry and economy.

I'm sorry, what?

That was so stupid I have to sit down for a moment.

Oil is renewable. More can be made. I even showed how it is being done today. Wind and solar are not "renewable." Sure, as long as the sun is shining and the wind is blowing you have a power source, but they aren't renewable. You can't make more.

So if the sun wasn't here, you think more oil could still be made?
