Illustrating the concerns of many that some of the refugees arriving in the west have ties to jihadists, a recent poll found that an astounding 21 per cent of Syrians support ISIS.

I don't know how anyone could expect an accurate scientific poll out of Syrians at this point in time (there's a war going on, you know). Much of it is probably poll noise, mistakes, and people speaking out of fear because they don't really know who the other person on the line is.

Previous polls on the subject have produced some odd results, such as 6% of Syrian Christians supporting ISIS, and 5% of Malaysian Buddhists supporting it too. That would be 6 million raging Nigerian Christian Jihadists and 1 million raging Malaysian Buddhist Jihadists if we are going to take it seriously (and apply the stupid metric I've seen many flamebaiting commenters on the right take, where they take some extremely low number of support for ISIS in some region, that is probably 90% poll noise, and multiply it by their population to get the number of raging ISIS Jihadists). But I do not take it very seriously.

There's no shortage of poll numbers showing a disturbing amount of support for ISIS---in parts of Europe, let alone Syria. It's not like it's a great leap to suppose there's ISIS supporters amongst the Syrian refugees. It would be surprising if there weren't.
 
If I supported ISIS I would need my head examined if I chose to go to racist Europe. I wonder if ANY American reactionaries are even slightly sane.

Earlier this month, an 18-year-old asylum seeker was also arrested in the Netherlands after he reportedly told other refugees that he fought alongside Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria.
