More than 100 CEOs from leading financial firms backed the campaign for Britain to quit the EU

Senior City figures including prominent hedge fund bosses signed an open letter calling for a “leave” vote in the in-or-out EU referendum on June 23. The move was being seen as another major boost to the “leave” campaign last night and fresh proof that many investors believe an EU exit could boost the British economy.

Matthew Elliott, chief executive of the Vote Leave campaign group, said: “Far from the picture of doom and gloom painted by the Government, it is clear that the City of London would not only retain its pre-eminence as the world’s most important financial centre, but would also thrive after freeing herself from the EU’s regulatory shackles.”

“Many of us worry that the euro zone’s problems may prove insurmountable. “Meanwhile there is scant evidence that the EU will foster or support the kind of innovation which is essential if Europeans are to compete with the rest of the world. “Specifically, we worry that the EU’s approach to regulation now poses a genuine threat to our financial services industry and to the competitiveness of the City of London.

Are you postulating that London's ' city executives ' are an admirable group ?

The UK economy still hasn't recovered from their theft and other malpractices. The UK is suffocating under the ' austerity ' which their criminal activities caused to be imposed.

Brits should treat those arses as traitors and nest-featherers.

Well I would suggest that it was mainly US crooks in Wall Street that caused that to happen. It is well known that the EU and especially the Germans would dearly love to hamstring the City of London and make Frankfurt the number one instead. I am beginning to think that you work for Press TV as a paid agitator, it certainly aligns with your sycophantic support for Hezbollah, Iran and your virulent anti-Semitism. I daresay that you deny the Holocaust as well, certainly wouldn't surprise me.

I've had doubts about the viability of the EU, for many years, due to the countries being of individual "states", with their own languages, money, and such.

If the US had been 50 individual countries, I doubt the idea of them joining would work either.

your virulent anti-Semitism.

Antisemitism ? That's a misnomer for dislike of Jews per se Can you find a shred of evidence in anything I've posted, anywhere, which confirms your filthy slander ? No. You're a filthy slanderer.

I daresay that you deny the Holocaust as well, certainly wouldn't surprise me.

Well, that's an example of what filthy slanderers say when they've had a good ass-kicking.

Britain shouldn't be allowed the dignity of leaving, they should be ejected from the union and the harshest possible tariffs should be placed on them. The EU should utterly destroy their economy.

The UK's destiny belong with no one. They have chosen the path of irrelevancy and should be punished. When the UK is reduced to being a third world country, then we can talk again.

Yet another reason to support Brexit!

Another 127 MILLION people from countries including Turkey and Ukraine could come into Europe visa-free under plans being pushed by Brussels

  • European Commission expected to confirm proposals this week and reject idea of 'emergency brake' on flows
  • Fears the extension of visa-free travel for tourists could lead to more asylum claims
  • Rules would apply to the 26-strong Schengen zone, but visas would still be needed to come to Britain
Plans to extend visa-free travel to Europe to 127 million people from Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia and Kosovo are set to be signed off by officials this week. Under the proposals expected to be confirmed by the European Commission, tourists from the countries will be able to move freely within the 26-member Schengen zone for up to three months. However, they would still require a visa to enter Britain.

There are fears the tourists' ranks could be swelled by an estimated 400,000 Kurds from southeast Turkey displaced by a government clampdown. Some have predicted a sharp increase in asylum applications. Turkey, which has a population of 75 million, has been included as part of a deal brokered by Germany for cooperation in controlling the flow of migrants to Europe. The plans will be put to European leaders at a Brussels summit in the aftermath of the crucial June 23 referendum on Britain's membership.

Turkey has not yet fully complied with an agreement to introduce more than 70 pieces of legislation to qualify for the waiver scheme. The measures mostly relate to human rights and media freedoms. But the commission is expected to endorse the plan on Wednesday, adding Turkey and Kosovo to Ukraine and Georgia. If EU leaders back the visa waiver at the end of June, the European parliament will need to ratify the move.

Germany took in more than a million asylum seekers last year as part of Chancellor Angela Merkel's 'open door' policy, and is keen to curb the flow of migrants. France and Germany have proposed a new 'emergency brake' that could suspend visa-free travel for countries that no longer meet the specific criteria. But commission officials have indicated that idea has been rejected.

The US is 50 separate countries that have voluntarily chosen to speak as once voice in matters of Foreign Policy, Foreign Trade, Wars, the Coining of Money and such.

You need to study federalism in much greater detail.

If you look back at the way this started, you would see that they weren't 50 separate countries that just came together.

There 13 that joined in the revolution against English rule and the other 37 came in over time.

There are currently 28 individual countries, in the EU, that are trying to make something work.

We had 3 join in December of 1787
8 between January and July of 1788
1 in 1789, 1790, 1791 1792.
Another 1, 4 years later, in 1796
I in 1803, which was 7 years later
The another 9 years for one to join in 1812
The 4 more years for 1 to join in 1816, then 1817, 1818, 1819, 1820, and then 1821
Then 15 years for 1 in 1836 and another in 1837
8 years later 2 more joined, in 1845
Another in 1846
Then 1 @ in 1848, 1850, 1858, 1859, 1861, 1863, 1864, and 1867
Then, after 11 more years, 2 in 1889, followed by 2 in 1890
After 6 more years, 1 in 1896
Then 11 years later, 1 in 1907
The last 4 occurred with 2 in 1912 and 2 more in 1959.

So it took almost 172 years and started with a way and survived a civil war.

Now you have to consider that the EU countries have a much longer history of being individuals "States" and a some of them have centuries old animosity towards each other.

Hmm- that might even equate to around sixty-three million beautiful European women. Some of those gals are really hot !
Not for you though, you sniveling xenophobic creep. Solo sex for you.

Just watching the news and they are talking about the huge anti-EU movement that is evolving in France. Marie Le Pen could become the next President!

It must be true then, if you saw it on the news.
Fool.

' about 40,000 other things ' sums up your sloppy mind very well, Fool.

Still, go ahead and drop your strides for the banksters. I don't suppose that's in any way a novelty.
