This is what they do to a guy whose book has as its first lines how much Obama is a citizen and we shouldn't bring that up. Imagine what they'll try to somebody who mentions the lack of paper trail.

"They" are the people "interpreting" his remarks. Read the story, somebody else pretty much just says, 'Well this is what he meant by saying that'...

Again, he needs to control the message better if he has any shot at all. And it may already be too late.

Dont expect me to vote for someone who cant even follow what they believe let alone follow what I voted for them to do.

As if you cared. When Clinton didn't follow his chosen religion and continued to sleep around all you had was defense.

Huckabee simply stated that Obama's upbringing wasn't the normal fare. He certainly didn't say what Jarod implies (that if you didn't play baseball or weren't a Boy Scout you aren't American).

That's just deliberately inane. It certainly isn't "bearing false witness"...
 
He's done. Personally I don't think he ever stood a real chance. His social views are just too steeped in the doctrine of the religious right wing. Not that that is a suprise or anything, just that too large number of americans don't want that in a president. Too many of us really like our porn, our weed... our dance with decadence. Hucky and others like him just don't get that, or if they do they want to put as much of an end to it as they can. I think a state-wide office is about as far as he could ever go politically.

Not that it matters all that much anyway, they, (other republicans), are all done now that Newt is in. He will beat them silly, at least he ought to. He's the best informed, smartest, candidate out there for the right. He is a conservative who can articulate his positions better than anyone else the repubs can run and still sound like a reasonable person.

I think Obama can beat him though, at least I hope he can.

Most of this is true, and having somebody named Barack as President takes a bit of a sting out of the Newt name.

Newt was able to show directly that he could lead with the 1994 Contract and subsequent historic upswing for Rs. He has a real chance of being the candidate, and has avoided having his own show, which IMO will actually work negatively for Gov. Huckabee.
 
Unless someone comes out of nowhere, Newt is the clear frontrunner right now, imo. Religion will be the undoing of both Huckabee & Romney. Palin might get something going, but her support probably has a ceiling that falls just below what you need for the nomination...

Newt's problem is his base is Religous conservatives and the circumstances around when he was drumed out of the House of Representatives.

His three divorces and the fact that both times he was seeing the next before he ended things with the last, and finally because the second wife is still pissed and on the circuit speaking about him.

Reagan's first wife told the press she would be voting for him.... Newt's second will be out giving the detales of how he dumped her while she was in the hospital undergoing chemo.
