How was this possible?

It’s hilarious to watch Trump on this issue, because on the one hand he wants to take credit for turning away the refugees, showing his border is secure, but one the other hand he want to create fear that our borders are under attack. I guess you have to be a Republican to understand this double speak. Are borders secure, or are they not secure? Which does Trump own?
the caravan is trying to enter thru ports of entry
( not turning away refugees but limiting the processing to what can be done)

vs.

Illegal crossings which are out of control. 52k arrests the last 2 months = about 70k crossings a month =
about 1 million illegal crossing per year.

that doesn't look like a secure border at all -hence the need for the wall/fence/barrier/whatever

thank you for agreeing the facts show walls don't work

The OP doesn't mention a wall.

At approximately 3:30AM, Michael Abram, a 33-year old native of Liverpool, avoided security by scaling the fence of Harrison's Friar Park estate near Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire and entered the mansion by throwing a statue through a window, which woke up the sleeping Harrisons.

Try to keep up.

I don't see many Americans trying to scale the walls to get into Mexico.

The use of "Nazi" is scurrilous and...false. It also demeans and devalues the real Nazis who were monsters. Try to do better.

and the facts you base that on are what? the facts don't agree with your silly opinion

In the 28 years that the Berlin wall stood, it's estimated that fewer than 5,000 border jumpers succeeded.

That's less than 200 successful incursions per year.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlin_Wall

Compare that with the number of known violations of our southern border, which currently lacks such a continuous wall patrolled by Border agents.

That's just the ones that are caught, and doesn't include visa overstays.

You've been debunked again.

I still want to know what happened to the massive caravan that was to invade the US

Since last September we heard nothing but this caravan of thousands upon thousands of illegal immigrants meandering its way to the border to include hundreds of ISIS terrorists, M13 gang members, and disease carrying immigrants all ready to prey upon the border

Assuming they made it, today, nothing, a few instances of rock throwing, but no siege, no attack, no invasion of the US. Either Trump lied and the whole thing was a farce to begin with, or, border security is working as it is today, what's the answer?
it's been on the news.
Many went home ( Honduras/whatever) many found work in Mexico -some are still encamped waiting to be processed.

There is a new agreement with Mexico: this would be for legal crossings (ports of entry) obviously

Migrants Seeking Asylum to Wait in Mexico Until Claims Are Processed in U.S
https://ktla.com/2018/12/20/mexico-...remain-while-u-s-asylum-claims-are-processed/

Migrants heading to the southwest border to seek asylum in the United States will have to wait in Mexico until their claims are processed, under an agreement between the two countries announced on Thursday that will affect tens of thousands of people each month.

Only about 9 percent of people are actually granted asylum.
The Trump administration says too many migrants make false claims.

Discussions on the arrangement have been going on between the two countries for months, well before the new leadership took over in Mexico on Dec. 1. On Thursday, the Mexican foreign ministry said Mexico had agreed to it on a temporary basis for humanitarian reasons, and it would affect those “who entered that country or had been apprehended at border entry points, and who have been interviewed by that country’s immigration authorities and who have received a court date to appear before an immigration judge.”

American Civil Liberties Union attorney Lee Gelernt said the plan was illegal. “This plan cannot be done lawfully and will result in countless people in life-threatening situations.”

The decision comes as the courts have blocked efforts to harden asylum rules.

More than 100,000 immigrants were caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border in October and November. Nearly half of them were traveling in family groups that included children, according to statistics from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Trump administration officials say one of the major pull factors for migrants coming across the border is the idea that they can wait in the United States for months or even years as their asylum cases progress.
They argue many disappear into the U.S. Forcing them to wait in Mexico will cut down on false asylum claims. The policy change applies only to migrants coming from countries other than Mexico, officials said.

Thousands of migrants have come up from Central America in recent weeks as part of caravans. President Donald Trump used his national security powers to put in place regulations that denied asylum to anyone caught crossing illegally, but a judge has halted that change as a lawsuit progresses.

Nielsen said in a statement the policy would be done legally.

“This will also allow us to focus more attention on those who are actually fleeing persecution,” she said in a statement.

Desh is an advocate for nationalization and Socialism, so maybe it was an honest error on her part.

Didn't conservative superhero Ronald Reagan famously say "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall"?

Obrador is also talking about an "economic zone" along the border as well with reduced taxation
and a few thing I haven't seen yet

Surely...surely, you understand that the Berlin wall was preventing the East Berliners from escaping the horrors of Communism...surely.

Trump doesn't need the wall, the country needs the wall. Dems say they are for border security, yet won't detail any actual measures. Furthermore, dems have voted against every single border security measure in recent years. This has nothing to do with five billion dollars (which is literally a drop in the bucket). This is all about hating Trump, at the expense of border security.

BTW, I know libs like to mischaracrerize the steel slat design as a "fence", but this is far from a typical thin gauge steel, or chain link fence. Not sure if you realized that.

No the wall is just: 1. archaic. 2. prone to damage. 3. Expensive to build, and maintain. 4. A piss poor determent, when raging rivers, and scorching desert treks do little. I'll think anyone that wants the wall is being a damned fool, just the same, and even if they are family. It's retarded, and people that want it, are being retarded. We don't live in an archaic age. A wall, even with extra determent, like spikes, or added voltage isn't going to do much. People from Cuba, would get on makeshift rafts, and travel like a 100 miles of ocean.

any citizen stupid enough to let a leader build walls all around their nation is stupid enough not to realize walls can be used to KEEP PEOPLE IN TOO
