How big do you think the military is? Why would they turn their guns against brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers?

It happened during our Civil War.

It's going to be dependent on the cause. And much of our military did defect back then.

I don't disagree with your premise as you can see in my previous posts.

STY stated there are almost 15 million retired military personnel in the country. Total souls in the military number about 2.27 million. ;)

Our military has a pretty high kill ration. :0)

But you know dam well, that in modern times, the true strength of armies is no longer measured in just number of soldiers.

And all thru out history, there are examples of superior technology defeating superior numbers.

Not when it comes to civil war. ;) Many despotic regimes have collapsed without the populace having a weapon. As we keep trying to tell you, our military would not turn it's weapons against the people if there was tyranny in our Government.

it's good that you're a Marine, but my conclusion comes from you stating that even with all that knowledge, 14 million veterans couldn't beat 2.27 million. What happens to that equipment we take? does it just sit there because we no longer know how to use it, being veterans and not active duty?

Yeah, we have fought country after country that has no airforce and no navy and came home with nothing gained. The lesson to be learned is people fight real hard to fight off invaders. We have had open skies and bombed the shit out of poorly armed people.

That equipment breaks down without a steady supply of parts and maintenance.

Out of 14 million vets, probably 1.4 million are combat arms, and half of them are past their physical prime.

You're just not going to fair well against tanks, planes, and misses.
