The super-rich and the churches pay no taxes?
No wonder America has gone bankrupt.
 
Why concentrate on the mormons. On the loony scale they are no where near the bottom.
Take, for instance, that nice Mr. Creflo Dollar. He runs the World Changers Church (should be the World SHORT Changers Church. He has been asked (nicely, I am sure) to send detailed accounting statements to your Senate Finance Committee. See Mr. Dollar (opening for a stream of simple jokes) keeps two jets, a Lear and a Gulfstream 3, two Rolls Royces (although he only admits to one!) a $3million mansion in Atlanta and a $2.44 million condo in Manhattan. It seems that the Short Change church isn't much more than a franchise operation with annual payments going to the well known con man, quack and snake oil salesman Mr. Kenneth Copeland. Mr Copeland collects his 'protection' money from several other 'churches' as well.
Now the saddest thing about this, apart from the huge amounts of tax free earnings that finance these people's lives is the fact that hundreds of thousands of otherwise normal Americans spend part of their Sundays a-huggin' and a-shout'n, and a-praise the lordin' and a-handing over their hard earned cash to Copeland's growing army of con men. That's sad.
Now, here is todays question: How many of these hally-looyah-in people are republicans and how many are democrats or do we now divide your country into the mad and the barking mad?

Holy shit Low, I thought you were having another of your flights of fancy. You have to forgive me as it is hard to believe, even in the US, that anyone can be called Creflo Dollar!!
 
Any organisation that exists for profit - whether or not they admit it - should pay tax on those profits. I, personally, do not know of a trades union that exists for profit, admitted or not, but things might be different where you live.

Goodness gracious, is he really? I am surprised because in the league of loonies mormons tend not to be as objectionable as he is. Perhaps he is new.

Using your logic then churches should be treated the same as unions since churches do not exist or profit, but things might be different where you live.

No idea what you are talking about. I have said that any organisation that makes a profit, whether or not they admit to it, should pay tax on that profit. Church, union, bridge club, whatever.
Clearly there would needs be some rules and checks, but we should start from that point and let those who feel they have been treated unfairly use the law to resolve their situation. But when someone runs an organisation and can afford to buy multi million quid houses, their activities should be scrutinised.
I hope I have made myself clear and have saved you from apoplexy.
