How serious is the threat to democracy, and how do we defeat it?

Hasen warns: “Of greatest concern is that the activities of Trump and his allies from the November 2020 election through January 7, 2021 served as dress rehearsal for how to subvert election results in 2024 or in other future elections.” He outlines three main risks to our elections.

The first risk arises from the “independent state legislature" doctrine. As Hasen explains, this is “[t]he argument that Article II and Article I, section 4 give state legislatures virtually unlimited powers over the rules for running presidential and congressional elections — even if it means violating the state’s own Constitution.”

The second risk is the potential for manipulation of the results using newly-passed state laws that allow partisans to take over voting administration from impartial election officials. In other words, Republicans would simply steal the election by not counting valid votes.

The 2020 election shattered the illusion that bipartisan norms insulated our elections in a way that less mature democracies could not. Instead, it’s now clear we have one party that would gladly swap U.S. democracy for a tin-pot dictatorship with its champion at the helm.

Another risk is mail-in ballots.

Which party is for:

No voter ID
Same day voter registration
All mail-in balloting
Months of voting
Ballot drop boxes
Ballot harvesting
Allowing 16 and 17 year-olds to register to vote
Allowing illegal aliens to vote
Ballot harvesting
Banning poll watchers

?

Hum? Which party? All of that was in HR 1 and is indirectly part of HR 4.

Some of that is fabricated, and a lot of it is stuff no one should have an issue w/.

Republicans don't want more people to vote. They never have. They win when turnout is low.

I believe that's what you judicial worshippers wanted............settle all disputes in the courts............am I right?

Why" They go through the same election procedures. They are opened in the precinct the voter is assigned to and then they are signature matched. If the name is in the logbook and it matched, they are marked as VOTED. You do not pile up votes for the person with the same name. You do not just tally a vote for someone who is not in the book. Our system is very good and it has been proven for half a century.
Do rightys spend any time understanding the system? It is checked after every single election. The illegal attempts are rare and they are caught.

There was no election in 2020. The election faulted due to election fraud by Democrats.

Denying the Constitution of the United States is not going to help you.

The Constitution is already not followed by the authoritarians in charge....it is already over.

We have been betrayed by our leaders,

Buckle Up.

You are describing Democrats.

The "mail-in" concern is so fabricated. No one has ever cared about that, until Trump brought it up.

And it's what he blamed for "massive fraud." But - oops! - he ALSO claimed "massive fraud" in 2016, when we didn't have any increased mail-in due to a pandemic. Oh, and oops again! He even called the 2012 election a "sham."

See a pattern here? When are people going to stop believing a proven pathological liar? Ever? Doesn't the "pathologically lying" part give anyone pause?
