Justice Department prosecutors in recent years have used the Espionage Act provision against a variety of defendants, including a West Virginia woman who retained an NSA document related to a foreign government’s military and political issues. Elizabeth Jo Shirley pleaded guilty in 2020 to a willful retention count and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

This month, a retired Air Force intelligence officer named Robert Birchum was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to keeping classified files at his home, his overseas officer’s quarters and a storage pod in his driveway.

A president cannot serve prison time as it’s a national security risk.

Also Trump is entitled to secret service protection for life meaning he cannot be forced to be separated from his protective detail nor be handcuffed

All of his food would need to be ordered in as the prisoners might poison it

The worst case scenario is he would be sentenced to house arrest

Also, if convicted the current president would pardon him under the guise of moving the country along

It’s an unwritten rule that presidents will always get a pardon

Even if Biden were convicted Trump would pardon him

house arrest with restrictions on his rights would suffice

This is one of the unforeseen drawbacks of legalizing weed.

That nonsense is some of the stupidest shit ever offered on this board.

if they want to, they could easily obtain some other property to secure his safety - that is not his home

If this grossly incompetent judge lasts until the end of the trial, she will not sentence trump to prison

Cohen/Weisselberg and most others get sent to country clubs. I'm sure trump would be sent to a similar facility, if the judge were to actually sentence him.

She won't. Her excuse should be fascinating.

crying about things before they happen is unbecoming

I favor euthanizing Trump, not caging him,
but if his case is dismissed by the court system
which he personally molded to suit his purposes,
while he was president,
NOBODY should be surprised.
