How does the NFL come out ahead in all of this?

Teflon Don

I'm back baby
Forget whether or not you agree or disagree with the kneeling. My question is how the NFL comes out ahead and improves its brand with all of this.

I don't see how. The NFL should have shut this down last year. There might have been a little bitching and moaning, but it would have dissipated. Now they are stuck between a rock and hard place and it is because they were weak.

I will reduce thread bans for this one

At this point there are only three options available to the NFL

1) End playing the national anthem at all games - The left would applaud, but it would not go over well. In fact, I would argue that if that happened it not only would backfire on the NFL it would bleed into the 2018 elections as it would be blamed on the left and the democrat party

2) Enforce current rules which I have already posted - This effectively shuts down the bogus protests, but animates the BLM crowd and opens up the NFL to charges of being racist and looking like they are now on the side of Trump

3) Do nothing and let the inmates run the asylum - Maybe it goes away, but I doubt it. It probably descends into a slow burn and they continue to lose fans.

At this point there is no way the NFL can win in any of this.

I don't think people who are casual fans realize this, but the product is the biggest problem the NFL has. Their ratings were going down anyway because of poor quality play. Some have also theorized that "Patriots fatigue" is playing a big part of that, with the league still being top-heavy in spite of efforts for parity.

I think this is a blip. It actually WAS kind of a blip until Trump spoke up. I'm sure there are those who won't watch because of it, but I'd be surprised if it was a significant # - at least enough to impact the bottom line in a big way.

The NFL should focus on improving the product, and the rest will take care of itself.

They should just keep the players in the locker rooms while the national anthem is being played. I think it would be funny if they started playing the Soviet anthem for a few weeks. Would players be insensitive enough to disrespect the Soviet anthem?

Here's how one American who actually had skin in the game reacted.

Unlike Thingy Wingy and his pussy posse of feminized faux "football fans", he didn't cry about a pack of pampered multi-millionaires kneeling on the AstroTurf to virtue-signal.

Stadium worker Erich Nikischer quit his job at New Era Field after almost 30 years.

“I waited until the National Anthem ended, I took off my shirt, threw my Bills hat on the ground, walked out,” Nikischer said in a sit-down interview with Channel 2 at his West Seneca home.

Nikischer says he has no problem with players protesting before the National Anthem. It's when the kneeling continued into the song that strong feelings took over.

“During the National Anthem…the song that is about our country, our veterans that fight and die for us, it's just something I feel you shouldn't disrespect that way,” he said. "I believe people have the right to protest; I just don't believe that's the proper venue for it.”

He's not alone in that latter sentiment. Safety Jordan Poyer's fiancé says that's how the couple feels, and that Saturday night, they decided he wouldn't partake in an on the field protest.

"I feel like there's a certain time or place where you should make a stand for something, and we both agree that it's not in your work force, your work field,” Rachel Bush said. “So yeah, I agree there's something that should be done, but we both mutually don't agree that it should be done during their work during their football season.”

Nikischer said it was a hard decision, and that he will miss those he worked with.

“I will never step foot in the that place again, I will never watch an NFL football game again until this ends,” Nikischer said.

I don't think these thugs really realize just how much the playing of the anthem and the respect it represents means to blood and guts America.

Us, the fabric of this country actually tear up when we stand for it sometimes, that emotional response is not to be taken lightly.
These goons are underestimating just how much this charade of a protest bothers us.

they do not give a damn.
That take a serious, yet marginal issue- and jam up during the anthem..one of the few times Americans actually reflect on the country

Can't be both in the bolded there, kiddo.

That's what people don't seem to get here - not just w/ Kaep's protest, but w/ BLM & everything else that has happened in the past few years. There is a real disconnect between the black community in the inner cities & much of the rest of America. This is not a "marginal" issue for them. When a law-abiding citizen gets targeted under "stop & frisk" over 100 times, there is a big effin' issue there. And that's why Kaep took the most public, high-profile & controversial stand that he could in his position.

Personally, I applaud him. He literally risked his career (because he essentially lost it), and for very unselfish reasons - because of what he saw going on in the black community. I hate hearing people say "just take your millions & shut up." Now, the latter is something that is antithesis to what America is about - not what Kaep did.

Actually, I don't believe that the NFL is focused on improving the product. Personally, I have not seen any real scientific evidence regarding CTE. It is like the global warming science. Pretty thin and bordering on bogus. One of the biggest problems is the limited playing time in training camp and preseason. This is why the first two games were so shitty and week three was better.

I don't think this is a blip. You can say it has nothing to do with the kneeling, but polls would disagree

This was from last year

you keep things in perspective, something the left NEVER does.
You acknowledge the problem and look for solutions ( afterall protest is not a solution)

I already came up with a solution and 'it's not my problem' ( not being black, but I am concerned)

Stop and frisk is a local issue. To my knowledge NY cut it out, and hasn't suffered.
Chicago might need that for now at least.

Stop with the absolutist thinking -and tearing down the anthem- and bring to bear problem solving
win/win

I'm pretty confident that Thing would cut off his own penis rather than try to work with any of Trump's proposals to solve a problem.

Stop & frisk was just one example, and it's one I thought of, because I recently saw an interview w/ a guy who said he had been stopped over 100 times - sometimes pushed down on the pavement. He started crying when he talked about it. I can't imagine that. I was unfairly targeted by a cop ONCE in my life, and it affected me on a pretty deep level. I didn't feel as free; and that was just one time. If I was a guy like that, I'd feel like I was a foreigner in a police state.

We hear the anecdotal stuff all of the time, and it's all basically true - blacks get pulled over more, harassed more, and yes - killed more.

I don't even really want to speak to whether or not the anthem is the best place to express issues w/ that. I mean, it worked, right? All a guy like Kaep can do is get America talking about it. I guess the conversation probably isn't focused where he'd want it to be focused, but it did start a conversation.

I think it's too bad that people have to turn it into a "spitting on the military" thing, which I never saw it as, and which Kaep said was the farthest thing from his mind and not his intent at all. If that's how you view the anthem, I think that's a personal thing - but people forget that intent matters. I think that's true of a lot of "PC" stuff that lefties get up in arms about, like when someone uses the "n word." Did they intend it to hurt or denigrate, or were they just saying it to illustrate another point? People don't focus on intent anymore. It's all just emotional knee-jerk reactions.

It's all about emotions with a feminized freak like Thing. Have you noticed?

Maybe the police have valid reasons for what they do. Maybe not in every case, but I fail to see how a pack of virtue-signaling, pampered multi-millionaires kneeling on AstroTurf helps anyone.

Let me guess. They are "raising awareness". Another emasculated notion based on emotion.

It's been said that men act on facts, women act on their feelings.

Thing and his pussy posse of feminized faux "football fans" are very likely the same craven crew that wants to ban tackle football and athletic competition.

Lol, the perpetually pissed... Always pissed about something, cry me a river on tha jaguar jersey

Those who have watched the whole "hands up don't shoot" LIE unfold have every right to be pissed off.

No more....

Better git one of those jerseys while you can, won't be any demand for them after yesterday.

How do you "shut down" a persons 1st amendment rights?

the NFL does notcome out ahead, they have not began to feel the backlash in all of this.

When you think you are right on any given issue, look around at the company you are keeping, usually a pretty good indicator of right and wrong.

so on the one side you have people who respect our flag, respect what it stands for, respect our military.
And on the other

millionaire thugs who step on the flag, step on the all the sacrifice that flag and our anthem represents, who don't even know what they are protesting.

you choose, or sounds like you already have
