With your reason for keeping it. Social security is a shitty retirement program and anyone who depends on it for their 'golden years' is an idiot. It has one of the shittiest ROI's and worst payouts of any retirement system you could choose.
Yes, you are forced into paying into it, but smart people see it as mostly just gravy rather than some necessity. It is, however, a safety net for the lazy and stupid.

Yes. Even the lazy and stupid--well most stupid some are just too stupid to live--can be gainfully employed.
Because, unlike you, I at least include some facts when I do. All you do is proclaim "socialism works!" and expect me and everybody else to accept that. It doesn't work like that unless you are some hypnotized Leftist in that cult.
People would take the job, then work half-assed at it like everybody else, putting in just enough effort to get by. They didn't care if what they did was quality work or usable, all that mattered was not going to gulag. That's why economies like N. Korea's, Venezuela's, Cuba's, etc., suck so bad. There is no incentive to actually work hard and make a profit.
Socialism breeds sloth. It also breeds criminals. If you know the government is going to give you a place to live, some food, etc., then you have no incentive to be productive. Why work when you get the same handouts as people who don't?
On the other hand, the truly energetic and smart become criminals of one sort or another. They game the system, open black markets, and set themselves up as capitalists. That's as true in N. Korea as in the USSR, Cuba, or Venezuela.
Neither of board leftists are looking to be reelected.
