The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill to codify the right to same-sex and interracial marriage in the wake of the Supreme Court's reversal of Roe v. Wade -- with one justice writing that the right to same-sex marriage should also be reversed.

The final vote was 267-157, with 47 Republicans joining every Democrat in the majority.

Hopefully it will pass in the Senate as well.

I would have voted with the opposition.

There is no such thing as "gay marriage", and this is a State level issue, not a federal one.

It wasn't long ago I was lectured on here by a conservative that the GOP has supposedly become enlightened on marriage equality. But what I am seeing in this vote is that the overwhelming majority of Republicans still oppose marriage equality for same sex couples.

First gay marriage then before you know it they'll be wanting to teach prepubuscent school children that chemical castration and genital mutilation are healthcare and affirmative and healthy lifestyle choices, oh wait too late.

Marriage is equal it is allowed for all men and women to marry one another, marriage is between a man and a woman, what's next taking prepubescent children to gay bars with drag shows or teaching them in school that chemical castration and genital mutilation are health are and healthy lifestyle choices? Oh wait too late.

Never forget that gay marriage was the lefts first step towards the normalization of pedophilia and now they are actively sexually abusing and grooming children in the classroom.

Just what makes this a state issue as opposed to Federal?
The Constitution of the United States of America.

See Article 1, Section 8. (says what the specific enumerated powers of Congress are)
See Article 6. (says how laws shall be made in the US)
See Article 7. (says that the States, collectively, own the Constitution)
See Amendment 10. (says that powers not delegated to the US by the Constitution (nor prohibited by it to the States) belong to the States)

Specifics, what exactly does apply? Not your generalization.

Marriages and divorces can and do exist in all the States of America... even in the oligarchies and the dictatorship too!

Except you just argued that some marriages would only exist in some states and would cease to be if the couple moved to another state.
The only reasons divorce exists in all states is because of Supreme Court ruling in the Williams v N Carolina that forced N Carolina to recognize divorce from other states.

If you allow some states to not recognize the marriage from another state then you have created a position where someone could move to another state, not be married so they are free to remarry then move back to the first state and be guilty of bigamy.

Sorry, but the full faith and credit clause overrides all of those. By your argument, a contract in one state would not be honored in another state. Marriage is a legal contract.
