House judiciary member calls for Mueller resignation

Russian asset
Rep. Trent Franks, a Republican who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, said in a statement Tuesday that Mueller is in violation of the law that prohibits Mueller from serving as a special counsel if he has a conflict of interest.

Mueller and former FBI Director James Comey have been longtime allies dating back to 2003 when the men both worked in Washington, Mueller as the FBI Director and Comey as Deputy Attorney General. Franks cited the pair’s relationship as a reason for Mueller to be disqualified from the probe.

“Bob Mueller is in clear violation of federal code and must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties,” Franks said. “Those who worked under them have attested he and Jim Comey possess a close friendship, and they have delivered on-the-record statements effusing praise of one another.

Finally, someone steps up and says it.

It's politically problematic for Trump to go after Mueller but Mueller is fair game for the House Judiciary committee.

Could this be the beginning of the end for Collusion Gate? Mueller extended his investigation into Trump's personal business dealings, apparently, because there was no good evidence of Russian collusion during the election so he was forced to go in search of some other crime. [how can that possibly be constitutional anyway??]

If so, good riddance to a dead horse.

'He' is a ranking member of the House Judiciary committee.

His opinion carries more weight than most. And this has nothing to do with Trump since he isn't calling for Mueller's resignation.
It has everything to do with Trump and I doubt his opinion carries much weight, he's a member of the Cookoo Caucus.

Politically, it only has to do with Trump if he fires Mueller.

Mueller should recuse. Devin Nunes was forced to recuse over much less.

That's just bullshit, Mueller hasn't done anything like Nunes, that is just laughable. Mueller still has bipartisan support.

All Nunes did was report to Trump that a crime was committed against some of his people. He wasn't reporting about the Russia investigation. It was bull crap. Democrats wanted Nunes out of the way.

Mueller only has support because the Swamp is Deep.

But this calls into question the integrity of Mueller's investigation. Not that that matters.

( hint: go for the last option)

the fix is in
It may well be, but do you blame the Democrats, can he be trusted to do an investigation from the viewpoint?

do you know what the preliminary investigation is about? It's political hackery. Committee rule 18a.
These preliminary hearings have no public reporting mandate and can go on *forever*
Some of these 18(a) investigations run for years without resolution,” said Morgan. “It doesn’t provide much transparency into what is going on.”
