Hospital charges: Some bill more 'because they can'

Not very smart, was it?

If you had read the article, you'd see that she has insurance. She found all these price disparities when checking her statements and seeing a bill for $15,000 worth of treatments her husband never received. "She has documents showing that the radiation treatments were canceled but, nearly two years later, she said a partial payment from Highmark to UPMC Shadyside is still considered under dispute."

The dim bulbs at the hospital submitted a bill to Highmark and the dimmer bulbs at Highmark made a partial payment. I'm calling carelessness, not fraud, but what about all the times this stuff goes unnoticed? All the insureds will pay for it in the end.

No actually I didn't. It was my family doctor who was concerned and suggested the stress test and I just followed his advice and ended up paying $2 grand to walk on a tread mill for 5 minutes to find out what I already knew.

You only followed his advice because you were concerned. If you really already knew the answer than why were you there? Come on man. Just tell the truth. You are like every other hypochondriac out there in their 50s. You feel a little ventricle go off beat and you are hightailing it to the hospital.

Of course you want to bitch about the bill post treatment. I always find that very cute.

to date its had the oppoaite effect but rhe death panels are only just starting to assert themselves so I suppose there is hope. Those expensive AIDs patients are locked out. I guess they dont count as a pre existing condition.

"Death panels." :scoff: I didn't know you were a Palinite.

If an insurance company refuses to pay for treatment of some forms of cancer, for instance, is it acting as a death panel?
