The point is that most crimes against the humanity are ignored in America. Pretty much all we're taught about is the Holocaust and the transatlantic slave trade. So for people to not know that much about the Holocaust is hardly a big deal. I'm more concerned that they don't know about all the other mass murders.

We Americans are barely capable of admitting our nation engaged in one of history's greatest crimes against humanity: 400 years of chattel slavery in the southern United States. So I have always felt we were on shaky ground lecturing Russians about the Gulag, or Belgians about the Congo holocaust.

I am not responsible for what other people do or do not do. I speak consistently about the Nazi holocaust, American slavery, the Gulag, etc. So I personally do not ignore other crimes at the expense of the holocaust.

However, I maintain the holocaust was unique. There has never been mass murder, clinically planned and industrially executed on the nature and scale of the Nazi holocaust.

It was industrial scale mass murder executed with diabolical technology and planning, with the express purpose of exterminating an entire ethnic group at a continental scale , the likes of which have not been seen before or since
