Revolvers are the worst possible choice for defensive shooting. You might consider educating yourself. For self defense, you want a gun which holds as many rounds as possible. Semiautomatic weapons fit that bill, revolvers do not.

Not at all. Marksmanship is important no matter what. That has nothing to do with which guns are best for self defense. You might want to consult the experts.

How many LEO's carry revolvers? Do Secret Service agents carry revolvers? If not, why not? Are they bad shots?

The AR-15 is not a combat or assault rifle.

Technically anything used to assault someone can be called an assault weapon, your car, your ink pen, your screwdriver and hammer, even a rock from your yard.

Many things are modeled after military items because they look cool.

Part of the problem IMO. With the design, they're trying to target a specific demographic, one that wants to look "cool" or "tough" kind of like how now you can buy a "muscle car" with the engine of a family sedan. What kind of people want to be civilians but look like they're badass military dudes?

I am not even a rabid gun nut, but I understand the concept of ballistics and small arms tactics.

There is never going to be a situation in your life where you are going to need to pick off ATF agents at distance, or put down marauding zombies closing on you from a kilometer away.

A shot gun is the most effective weapon known to mankind for close-quarters firepower and self defense....which is the only type of self-defense you will ever plausibly need in your home.
