By election, you mean the primary? If so you have to understand that Bernie was a recipient of enormous Democratic party money. He was provided the opportunity to enter into many debates with Hillary. Bernie is a socialist. He is still not a Dem. He has had his entire status elevated from an obscure Vermont. senator to a national player. All on the Dems dime.

No accident. The Repubs used tax money to attack Hillary from the time Bill was into office until now. The knew the investigations and endless name calling would erode her backing. The old where there is smoke ,there's fire, cliche working. Who can stand 30 years of constant repub investigations with out losing some backers? 7 Benghazis? 5 emails. Starr Comm. Found guilty of nothing. Rep. Johnson said the Benghazis purpose was to erode her poll ratings and he was glad it worked. But rightys still cannot get off the fake Hillary train.
