Interesting to hear Hillary trying to appeal to blue collar whites with her comments on coal last night. Also interesting how she did it without calling out Obama and the EPA which have gone after coal.

When are Democrats going to call Hillary a racist? How dare she do something that benefits white people.

Coal miners aren't all white.

No, but a large number of them are and coal areas in Kentucky and West Virginia are very anti-Obama for his EPA's battle against coal. Her coalition in '08 included working class whites. Now they are more in Bernie's camp.

Exactly on the EPA and coal. Obama declared war on coal [and good paying coal jobs] before he was even elected. Why any coal miner [black, white or purple lol] would trust Hillary Clinton to fire up the industry is beyond me. Or Bernie, for that matter. Climate change dogma is entrenched orthodoxy on the left: you can't turn the clock back 10 years on the coal industry and stay true to the dogma.

If I'm a coal miner and voting to keep my job, Trump is a slam dunk.

Shrillary must really be getting desperate if she is courting coal miners. Soon she will be calling for across the board tax cuts

It's make no sense, politically. You can't split the difference on coal/climate change; and to appeal to coal miners is to risk aleinating large segments of the same coalition she's fighting Bernie for. Not to mention the racialist angle.

But these coal miners vote for their jobs and not transgender equality or whatever. So maybe there's no other approach, I don't know.

She probably thinks the super delegates are going to win her the nomination so she is tacking rightward

The irony is that if Bernies supporters feel cheated, they will stay home. Left wingers should be skeered. Their democrat party is coming apart at the seams

Why shouldn't we go after coal? It's wasteful, filthy, contains extraordinary amounts of hazardous pollutants, is retrograde, technologically obsolete, destroys vast areas of pristine ecosystems and is causing consequential changes to our atmosphere.

costs? Obama is even going after natural gas. Green is fantastic, but it's not here yet.

Then there is the little matter of EPA (executive) over-reach which SCOTUS put a stay on the other day.
If you want to re-make an economy -can you please do so in a Constitutional manner?

Obama Declares War On Natural Gas

It's funny as hell to listen to ya'll bullshit yourself with the time tested Rush Limbaugh theorem of "If I say something often enough it will become true!".

The data is clearly showing that it is the GOP coalition that is deeply and seriously divided and disintegrating.

True but only a small number of white collar workers are in the coal industry and given the serious, substantial and significant hazards of coal big whoop. The Obama administration and EPA are on the right track. Coal is a dirty, filthy, toxic, destructive and technologically obsolete means of generating energy and needs to be replaced. Again, I challenge you, what's wrong with that?

Why anybody would trust coal barons is beyond me. What do the miners in your state think of that p.o.s. Don Blankenship? And all the others like him who ignore safety regulations and put the lives of their workers on the line, daily. Mining disasters occur because these companies ignore basic safety rules. If you're going to send people thousands of feet underground for such a horrible job at least treat them like human beings and don't deliberately put them in harm's way. Even when companies are issued violations they get off with a slap on the wrist. A pox on Massey and all coal companies. I'll be happy when the country doesn't need coal anymore.

replace it with what. over what time frame. why kill natural gas? Obama is a Green zealot.
One consequence of his inability to enact any legislative agenda is the EPA ( which reflects his policies) makes determinations solely on health -
NOT taking into consideration economic factors. They can do so as a regulatory agency, and that is the path they choose.

Coal is disgusting, it's much more then carbon -but when you start impinging natural gas over methane you are in the realm of climate change
-not pollutants..

Get some kina Congrssional action - if you can't then maybe it's because you never worked with Congress before.
Put Hillary in there, and it's going to be worse -she comes attached to built in gridlock -I doubt she would even get the 100 day honeymoon

You're completely missing the point here. I'm going to guess you didn't watch the debate?

You think all these coal workers are out there cheering for the government to take away their jobs? What am I missing here?

Dude, did you watch the debate? Do you understand what we are discussing here?
