High school football coach scores big win at Supreme Court over post-game prayer

His Boy His Choice!
You're a neo-nazi seeking to strip Americans of their unalienable rights. I hope you die of ass cancer.

If some asshole want to get on his knees in the middle of a field and pray to a magic-man in the sky,
as long as he isn't making anybody else do it,
and as long as he isn't doing it on my lawn,
let him humiliate himself.

Whom is he hurting other than the reputation of his family?

There's a difference between a leader of a group making a public display of it and a simple citizen praying without making a scene.

Consider religion like sexual harassment in the work place. What's appropriate and what isn't. A boss coercing people to blow him for promotions with "hints" is no different than public school leaders giving "hints" about who is religiously righteous and who is heathen scum. It's a form of bullying.

SCOTUS just legalized religious bullying. Sad.

A posting from a friend privy to the circumstance…

“Kennedy started coaching at the school in 2008 and initially prayed alone on the 50-yard line at the end of games. But students started joining him, and over time he began to deliver a short, inspirational talk with religious references. Kennedy did that for years and led students in locker room prayers. The school district learned what he was doing in 2015 and asked him to stop.

Kennedy stopped leading students in prayer in the locker room and on the field but wanted to continue praying on the field himself, with students free to join if they wished.”

Obviously I am not opposed to what this coach is doing. But I wouldn’t be opposed if he was some other religion as long as players/students weren’t coerced to join him.

Traditionally prayer has been a part of sports in my neck of the woods. While most schools have stopped having a public prayer before a game, most teams have either a student led prayer or a coach led prayer either in the locker rooms or on the ball field.

Also look at the OU girls softball team and their post game circle. Again, it is voluntary and player led.

he Supreme Court handed a big win to a former Washington high school football coach who lost his job over reciting a prayer on the 50-yard line after games.

At issue was whether a public school employee praying alone but in view of students was engaging in unprotected "government speech," and if it is not government speech, does it still pose a problem under the First Amendment's Establishment Clause.

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that the answer to both questions is no.

"Here, a government entity sought to punish an individual for engaging in a brief, quiet, personal religious observance doubly protected by the Free Exercise and Free Speech Clauses of the First Amendment. And the only meaningful justification the government offered for its reprisal rested on a mistaken view that it had a duty to ferret out and suppress," Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote in the Court's opinion. "Religious observances even as it allows comparable secular speech. The Constitution neither mandates nor tolerates that kind of discrimination."

It was the right decision. He didn't pressure students into doing anything. It's certainly entertaining though to watch Christians defy what Jesus himself said, though.

"Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

But kneeling during the Star Star Spangled Banner is an act of treason

As expected, the Trump Court, again doing its best as scripted to legitimize the political cultural wars, ignored the Establishment Clause, can’t wait to see what happens when the Islamic coach/teacher has a prayer moment during a school event

Wait, wait, wait … Did I miss something. Did the court rule that Kapernicking during the Anthem is treason?

No, but a lot of people believe it was. There is an alarming ignorance about our Constitution and what it does and does not do.

Ask Bobby Bowden. one of the winningest football coaches of all time.

What the fuck do you know about football, bitch?

Jane, you ignorant cunt.

Do you even know what a screen or a Hail Mary is? Ofc you don't. STFU!

Yes, Tim Tebow taught us that Jesus always picked a side. And he picked right about 50% of the time. He owes his bookie millions.

I’m deciding that the constitution is much like the Bible … and is interpreted many ways by many different groups of people.
