How many people in this country right now today are working their ASSES OFF every day while making between 40,000 and 50,000 a year BEFORE TAXES while also receiving ZERO benefits from their state or the feds? Millions and millions and millions. That's just the truth of it. Now............let's add up what someone on benefits receives each year in total. Let's say its a single mom with 2 kids,...pretty normal,...we wont even use numbers of the more extreme cases, Add up what that family of three receive in section 8,...food stamps, health care, cash assistance, free Obama phones and service, free internet, energy assistance and every other kind of assistance you can think of. That ends up being not only more,....but WAY MORE then what those untold millions of workers doing it the RIGHT WAY are bringing home after taxes. In no way is that a just system,...cases like that simply should NEVER happens,...ever. NO,....this ends NOW!

In fact,........I wouldn't even have food stamps at all. I would completely do away with them. I would build food distribution centers that act as grocery stores for those on benefits. People on benefits would be issued a picture ID that is to be used upon entering the building. NOBODY else allowed in. The center would consist of basic food staples,...nothing else. No treats of ANY KIND,...no nothing. You want bread,...no problem,...here are the ingredients,...BAKE IT. Canned meats, vegetables, fruits, flour, salt, eggs, oatmeal,...peanut butter,...ect ect ect. If it was good enuff for those who served in the military in the past it is most certainly good enuff for those who don't work. And if they don't like it? No problem,...simply get a job and work,...that way you can BUY whatever you want.

AND FURTHERMORE :).......think of all the great health benefits. People would be eating much healthier by cutting out all the pre packaged JUNK they now consume, same goes for all the junk food snacks and sugar. This in turn will make healthcare costs go down substantially because we will have a much healthier group of people we are supporting.

AND....I would MAKE the recipients of the benefits work in them unpaid so many hours a week to help offset the costs involved. LOTS of cameras, maybe some private security,...other than that the recipients can man the store. WHY NOT? Its only fair.

I can think of all kinds of positives that would come from this. They would actually learn how to properly cook for themselves when no pre packaged JUNK is available. There is yet another positive. Now this is what you call.......WINNING! The old teach a man to fish scenario.... :)

Yeah, in a way, I agree, Stone. Of course, I may be interpreting what you are saying differently from you.

I accept that there are disgusting people in this country who would allow people to starve to death rather than furnish food in a land of the greatest abundance that ever existed on this planet. Perhaps some of those people (perhaps you) would even suggest that those people be tortured before being allowed to die of hunger...or to be beaten to death in public arenas for the entertainment of our sick segments of society.

No telling.

I, however, would rather be put in prison than be one of your number. You, and people like you, are cold, unfeeling, ignorant to a fault, savages.

I would much rather remain a human.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Well...it is more like the savage teaching the informed to become more disgusting...but why deal with the reality of words.

It's one thing to ignore wars, famine and pestilence in foreign countries, but it's unAmerican to let it happen to our fellow Americans simply so the rich can pocket more money.

Hopefully we can arrange that.

Why duplicate the effort of stores that already exist? SNAP benefits have limitations on what can be purchased. If there are holes in the program, no need to reinvent the wheel, just tighten up the security such as requiring a picture ID.

SNAP food benefits are put on a Lone Star Card and can be used just like a debit card at any store that accepts SNAP.

SNAP can’t be used to:

  • Buy tobacco.
  • Buy alcoholic drinks.
  • Buy things you can't eat or drink.
  • Pay for food bills you owe.
You can also use your SNAP benefits to buy food online. Learn more about buying food online with SNAP.

Who is it for?

  • People in eligible low-income households.
  • Most adults ages 18 to 54 with no children in their home can get SNAP for only three months in a three-year period. The benefit period might be longer if the person works at least 20 hours a week or is in a job or training program. Some adults might not have to work to get benefits, such as those who have a disability or are pregnant.
  • Households in which all members are either older adults (age 60 and older) or people with disabilities are eligible to participate in the Texas Simplified Application Project (TSAP), which makes the SNAP application process easier and provides three years of benefits at a time instead of six months.

Proposed Historic Medicaid and SNAP Cuts Will Hit New Yorkers Hard

The proposed cuts would result in millions of people losing their health coverage and access to food assistance, including more than 2 million New Yorkers. Currently, one in every three New Yorkers utilizes Medicaid to access vital health care while SNAP benefits help one in every seven New Yorkers put food on the table. One of the proposed cuts to both of these programs comes in the form of new work requirements for Medicaid and expanded work requirements for SNAP. Work requirements don’t actually increase employment though. Instead, they often cause many eligible people (those who already work or are exempt from working) to lose their health coverage and/or food assistance due solely to the burdensome reporting process and complicated red tape and bureaucratic hurdles – these losses are what the bill architects point to as “savings.”

Just a quick in and out , couldn't let this pass. Oh..........so now you are for using a PICTURE ID to obtain FOOD but not to vote. How very VERY FASCIST and NAZI LIKE of YOU! Good to know..... ;)

Wrong again. I support voter ID. What I object to, son, is making it a poll tax. If we require people to carry picture ID to vote, then that ID should be free just like voting is free.

I'll go one step further and require anyone who seeks a job or rents property to also provide a government issue picture ID. Guess who that affects? Add to this arresting slugs like you and your brothers for using illegals under the table. Six months in County for a first offense. Double it for a second offense.

I notice you didn't provide actual numbers.

I guess you didn't use numbers because numbers are real and you don't deal with reality.
