Here’s How Many People Fatally Overdosed On Marijuana Last Year?

I can't speak for the US but much of the dope smoked in Europe is Skunk. It has been specifically bred in places like Holland to have far higher concentrations of THC than occurs in the nature. It is responsible for much higher incidence of psychosis.

The difference is simple enough. Regular weed (also available as a compacted resin known as hash) is the harmless relaxant you remember from your foggy student days. Skunk is a modified form of the same plant with considerably more harmful effects. It has become prevalent because it is the cheapest way to get super high. The reclassification of cannabis has reflected this; since 2009, it has been a Class B drug, because skunk, not weed, now dominates the UK market.

All cannabis contains (among other things) two significant ingredients: Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD). THC is what gets you high, but is also known to cause psychosis. CBD suppresses the psychotic effects of THC. In regular weed the two are present in a balanced ratio, while skunk typically contains 2-3 times more THC and almost no CBD.

Correct breathing and yoga may produce similar ' highs ' to splif consumption- although loincloths are banned in many clubs.

I think one should be careful that though it is true that weed isn't as harmful as other controlled substances it is hardly innocuous. I don't partake often as when THC level were dramatically increased during to late 80's and early 90's that partaking regularly interfered with other aspects of my life that were important to me. Mainly it fostered a level of apathy and inactivity that interfered with other important life priorities. In other words if I had it, I couldn't leave it alone. I'd come home from work, partake and the rest of the day was shot. This was not beneficial to me so I greatly reduced partaking to where I seldom do. Hell I don't even know anyone who sells it now.

I'm all for legalization but I doubt that even if it were legalized that I would regularly partake.
