Here we go again! O-BOMB-YA sends Marines to Iraq

A detachment of U.S. Marines is on the ground in Iraq to support U.S. and coalition efforts against Islamic State, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A group of Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU, will add to the U.S. forces already in Iraq battling Islamic State, it said.

The 26th MEU is currently deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations, which covers the Gulf, Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean.

We do have trainers and advisors in Iraq and Syria. Last count I saw was about 7k.
They do good work, and to my amazement the Iraqi Army can actually stand and fight -they have been kicking ISIL around.
But they need the trainers, and the discipline US forces bring

One wonders if we had never left...but then again al-Malki's sectarian purges were as bad as our de-Bathification under Paul Bremmer

Anyways..it's on to Mosul (eventually) and we are finally playing a decent role. The Kurds aren't going to help if the Iraqi's run away again.
So our Special forces, and advisors are doing some good this time.

The Iraqi's do good in Shi'a territory, ISIS does good in Sunni territory. Neither does particularly good when they try to branch out of their base of sectarian support.
