Here it comes! Health care reform in Senate scored by CBO - saves money, insures 35mi

good to see your lack of intellect is shining through in your wonderful comments.

Bottom line, this bill is similar to the House bill. It doesn't include the 'fix' that Congress wants for doctors compensation for the Medicaid reductions. The bulk of expenses in the bill don't start until 2013/2014.... but the extra revenues kick in earlier.

Essentially, the Dems are trying to hide their lies about this being deficit friendly.
and they probably will until after the 2012 elections and if the goals are achieved with standardization and some cost benefits then you'll see the fight on cost reduction begin in 2013 and if you think things are ugly now you aint seen shit.

Not to mention emphasizing improved public health including wellness and preventative programs which a market based system has no use for because it's not profitable. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. A lot of costs can be saved there.

what about all the private gyms constantly advertising health awareness....

there are books you can buy in the book store that are about nothing but preventative care.....are you suggesting such books/info be run on television? what more do you want?

they be wanting the Guberment to mandate our health standard in order to receive the gift of their Health insurance..or get fined or go to jail..

what a hell of a deal..

i don't think so....this is more akin to auto insurance....and the government in this case is going to offer their own insurance, which really is stupid, because they should just expand medicare....

if you can't afford it, you won't have to pay for it.....is this an intrusion....yes, but i don't think there is any living off the grid anymore....and if you do, then you surely don't care whether you have to have health insurance and i doubt the government is going to chase you down for it.....

we all know they could just fix and expand medicare and if that worked than we could talk more..but they don't want to do that.. why do you think that is..

Of course if it turns into a cluster fuck then the opposite will occur in the 17 states who do. BTW, going back to fuzzy math. There are not 33 States in the south.

Are you retarded or drinking? I said 33 states are going to opt in to the public option. That leaves 17 states (the south, Utah, and probably Alaska, Wyoming, and midwest states like Oklahoma) that aren't going to participate.

I am so tired of the bad analogies! Gov health care is nothing like auto insurance! Tell me where is the government forcing us to pay for a government provided auto insurance plan? What should happen that would be like the auto insurance industry, is that we should be able to shop for health insurance with same kind of free market incentives offered to auto insurance consumers!

more government control.....other than that (which repubs want too), my thoughts are:

it is easier to set up a new system, not tied to medicare

problem is, medicare is already a system, already an insurance

it makes the dems look good and they know it....government programs have heavy sway in this country, there is no denying that and there really is no denying the value of some of those programs.

It's actually because expanding medicare is a nonstarter. It would be fiscally HUGELY expensive, and certainly be opposed by every Republican everywhere. This is the more fiscally sound solution since the people using the public option are the ones FUNDING IT THROUGH PREMIUMS.

This whole expansion of Medicare thing would be great, but that's ACTUAL single-payer healthcare. You really think Republicans would have supported that?

what premiums? and correct me if i'm wrong....but didn't you support expanding medicare? and it seems so from your post....

republicans won't support any bill, medicare or expansion.....so your point is moot

expanding an already existing government insurance is the more conservative way to go at this point. the program exists, why create a new program?

What premiums? You realize the public option isn't some free healthcare thing for 45 million Americans right? It's just an insurance plan that people can buy into. It's not at all like Medicare. People buy into it with their own money. The bill mandates that it has to be self sustaining - that is it has to pay for itself with the premiums it takes in. There's a mandate for people to own insurance of some kind in the bill as well, so tax subsidies are given to people who can't afford insurance because of their income bracket. They can choose to use that tax money to buy the public option insurance of some private competitor.

THOSE premiums, tard.

I would support expanding Medicare because I believe it would be a good use of money. It wouldn't be cheap. It would be hugely expensive.

And wtf are you talking about Republiacns won't support any bill? I know that. I'm responding to Meme suddenly claiming that if Dems had just gone and expanded Medicare then maybe the Republicans would have been on board - which is RETARDED.

Medicare is a government run socialist program, so expanding it isn't going to help the problem. It doesn't pay for everything and seniors are forced into buying supplemental insurance to help pay for their costs. The program is filled with fraud and waste and there is an unfunded liability in the amount of $38 trillion. I agree we should just do it one step at a time, but that has never been the Dems MO and unfortunately they are in the majority. Hopefully, not for long.

uh, actually ibbie....the government plan IS the thing which will be provided to those unable to pay for premiums....true, anyone else that chooses to will be able to buy into it.....

In Obama math spending less than a trillion on a program is savings!!!
OK, I got it.
Save some money my way please.

Yup. That was the point of my first post. The answer?

"Well, there's a single payer option and that will fix everything!"

LOL. I'll take some of that savings... Just a bit less than a hard Trillion will do, and since it is government money it will be savings! I promise to create three jobs (and save millions, I mean just think what you could claim!) at least... It will be very stimulating.
