Healthcare "Reform" creates doctor shortage

This is flat out not true. Find any economist on the planet, even a leftwing hack like Krugman, who will come out and say that offering more free care not paid by the user will not result in higher demand and thus a shortage.
You will have 30million suddenly seeking care, and a shortage already of primary care MDs.

In fact it has ALREADY happened in Mass with their similar bill of forced insurance coverage and gov paying for those who qualify:

That's a strawman. No one is offering free care. Get your facts straight.

I think that is the major limitation, although there are surely others.

But I think there are plenty of situations in which a nurse practioner would be sufficient. Better an NP than a Dr who is rushed and stretched too thin.

There are also ways in which certain prescriptions can be requested by the NP and approved by the Dr.
Well better that then nothing at all.

Of course they are, the healthcare bill mandates that all have insurance and they are offering subsidies to anyone with income between 133 percent and 400 percent of the poverty level

You're telling me you supported this bill and you never realized that government would be paying for many people's insurance?

Moreover even for those newly forced insured who do pay for their own insurance, these are people who formally would have just bought healthcare as needed and now are stuck with forced healthcare insurance and like all who have insurance they will be prone to using it more as they want to get their money's worth even when nothing is wrong.

A study has come out saying we will need a minimum of 150,000 new doctors with the Obama plan insuring everyone.

I would agree to a $100,000/year salary if the Government would pay for Medical school. THat's what most nations are doing to create the needed supply on internest, family physicians and other primary care physicians which are in very low supply but high demand. Particularly in underserived rural areas. The goverment pays for your medical education and you work for them for X number of years at the salary they specify. Nothing wrong with that.

Great, more fucking taxes to pay for a doctors education. You libs are so clueless! Who cares if we, the taxpayer, end up working 6-8 months to pay for 47% of the US to get freebies...And you have those paying for it getting mediocre care because why should I, we, they, get to see a doctor we are paying for when a PA or an NP will just have to suffice...

Since ID mentioned taxes (working 6 - 8 months....) I got to wade in here. I already work 4 months to pay my taxes...I try not to think about it. But as I was in the store getting ready to come to work this morning I saw 4 boats pass by headed to the creek. I know the guys who were heading that way and all four of them were:

1. Younger than me
2. Have no jobs
3. Are in good health
4. Receive money from the government (that would be me)

The weather has been beautiful the last three days and it will continue to be until.....you guessed it...the weekend. :( I try not to think of it too much because I tend to think un-Christian thoughts.

I never minded paying taxes but the more I think about it and the more government seems to want the more I can't stand the thought of paying them.

I know this has nothing much to do with the HC bill but I needed to vent. Thank you. :)

But LR, it does have to do w/HC. The more congress grows gov. the more taxes we pay.
