Health care in Costa Rica for Nicaraguans!

We employ a legal immigrant from Nicraguaga who more recliently was a legal immigrant to Costa Rica.

She needed surgery a couple years ago but had no healthcare. She flew home to Costa Rica where the government paid for her to have surgery. She got Costa Rician healthcare because she had paid into the system for 5 years previously. What a great nation!

So she got health care in the country in which she paid for the health care? wow... that IS indeed amazing.

She should be allowed to get that here, she pays a lot in taxes, but because she is not a citizen she cannot get medicaid.

I pay for her health insurance now, its very expensive and she had to take a huge pay cut to get it!

So what you are saying is that she paid for the health care by taking a huge pay cut.... but that you are still going to take credit for paying her health care?

She IS allowed to get health care here. Just as she paid into the system in Costa Rica, she is allowed to pay into the system here. Your very next sentence shows that is exactly what is occurring now.

The public system in Costa Rica was very cheep compared to what she and I are paying here. I made a deal with her, she took a pay cut to pay for half of her insurance, I pay for the other half, it is not good insurance, she has a large deductable and pays 20% of all medical. If she had a public option, I feel quite sure she would take it.

basically you are telling us you provide crappy insurance, make her pay half of it and cut her salary before you would provide the rest, now when she gets sick you made her get on a plane and fly to another country because it's cheaper even though she won't be able to work while she's out of the country (I bet you aren't paying her sick pay either).....on top of that it sounds like she's old enough to get Medicare so you're making somebody's grandmother slave for you............I'm glad I don't work for you......

No, she did that prior to me buying her insurance. I am not rich enough to pay her any more than I do. She could go get another job and I would not hold it against her. I scrape the money together these days just to keep her employed.

She is not old enough for medicare. I have never not paid her for any time she has ever taken off. When she took two weeks off to visit her family, she got full pay. When we went on vacation and she had no work to do, she got full pay. When we went to the Bahamas for 6 days, she got to come along, got her own hotel room and had ALL of her meals paid for!

EXCELLENT FAUX OUTRAGE POST!!! :hand:

I give it two thumbs up!

You've been curiously absent on all the Con posts that demand "Buy your own damn insurance, or die!", but you make the effort to scold a liberal who employs a nicaraguan and pays for part of her health insurance.

Well done! Two thumbs up for phony and disingenuous outrage!

Icing on the cake, of the fake outrage tirade!

Clearly, you've never met any women from latin america. I can't speak directly to Jarod's housekeeper, but a lot of latin american women tend to be grandmothers by the time they are in their fourties.

lol, faux outrage?.....in a thread where a guy is complaining that his housekeeper doesn't have good enough health insurance?.....I don't even know anyone who has a housekeeper.....we buy our own insurance, but I am amused that the guy who thinks the government ought to be paying for people's insurance has employees who have to go out of the country to get their health care needs taken care of, because the insurance he has for them isn't good enough.....perhaps if we all took up a collection to help him pay his housekeeper more, she could afford to get American health care......

Maybe you should marry her. Would that entitle you to Costa Rican health care?

Then you don't really pay for it, you asshole....she does
At least you admit to being a fuckin' hypocrite....its a fact I was sure of long ago....

She is not a housekeeper, much more important position than that!

I had to go back and re-read, because I didn't recall anything in your post stating the woman was either a housekeeper or old enough for Medicare. I think PMP's bias is showing; if she's from Nicaragua she must be a manual laborer.

The average working schmuck would love benefits like this.

he said she couldn't get Medicaid because she wasn't a citizen....the logical conclusion was that she could have gotten Medicaid if she was a citizen.....thus she was likely poor....if she's employed but poor enough for Medicaid she doesn't get paid much.....part time domestic help was a logical deduction, not a bias....that plus taking her along with the family to the Bahamas.....au pair, perhaps?....
