Having a sense of humour failure about Donald Trump? That’s what he wants

I just can't believe some of the crap being spouted about Trump, your media are just a bunch of gossiping old women seemingly.

Watch this clip of Donald Trump suggesting yesterday that gun-rights enthusiasts might kill Hillary Clinton, and tell me, seriously, that you think he is being serious.

https://youtu.be/czvVbdmP0bk

Sane people would agree that Trump is clearly joking, and maybe even — God forbid — laugh. But people are less and less sane these days, especially on the Internet. After those two ‘outbursts’, to use the hackneyed term for any off-script remark, Trump’s off-hand jokes have been reported as if he were actually threatening to kill people. ‘TRUMP THREATENS HILLARY WITH GUN VIOLENCE,’ scream the headlines. ‘TRUMP TOYS WITH MURDERING JOURNALISTS’ shout the pundits.

Seriously? The media, it seems, is having a total sense of humour failure when it comes to Donald Trump. This gives him an advantage in the presidential race.

Trump relishes joshing with the crowd, toying with the media’s piety, and sending himself up as the candidate who is willing to say anything. His fans understand this. The media — and most Brits, judging from the reactions to Trump in this country — do not. Or rather they do, but they are so determined to turn Trump into a post-modern anti-Christ that they choose to believe him when he is clearly joking.

Now, you could say it is unpresidential to joke about things such as murdering your opponent, and you might have a point. You could say it is dangerous, given the number of mentally unstable people and guns in America, and again that is a fair point. (That said, Hillary Clinton’s security operation is so vast that any random gun nut has about as much chance of shooting her as I do of becoming president).

But the reaction to Trump’s quips goes further than that. It pretends that he is doing something — actually threatening violence — which he is clearly not. This is hysterical, and foolish. It reveals an almost ridiculous media-driven bias that annoys lots of Americans.

The fact is that Donald Trump can be funny; it’s one of his strengths as a candidate. He may be dangerous and a crook; but he makes the crowd laugh. Hillary Clinton does not. Aides and sucky-uppy journalists report that, in private, Hillary can be hilarious — but in public she chooses to bore people rigid. In electoral terms, this is a problem for her, not for him. Trump’s opponents should lighten up. Or they might be killed at the ballot.

They are trying to distract from two things that can hurt Crooked Hillary

1) Crooked Hillary gives a prominent seat to a muslime terrorists daddy at a campaign event

2) Emails came out proving that there was pay to play between Crooked Hillary's State Department and the Clinton Foundation

Must point to something else to hide Hillary's crooked ways

For myself I pray for her to have a massive stroke

At least this article doesn't try to pretend he was just saying "get out & vote."

Of course he was "joking." But that's the problem. It's reckless language for a candidate to use, and it's a pattern w/ him. Just MAYBE, that's an issue in a campaign. I mean, it's possible that there are some voters who don't want a world leader "joking" that way on the world stage, and having America engaged in damage control on a regular basis.

Of course, you don't joke about killing a presidential candidate. If any of us did that we could expect a visit.

Your article fails to make it's point. He notes the article TRUMP TOYS WITH MURDERING JOURNALISTS to make his case that the press is missing the joke. Does "toys" mean something different in England? I don't think it is funny to joke about murdering members of the press either especially not combined with his other statements/actions (threats against WaPo/Bezos, supporting an expansion of libel/slander laws, his media blacklists, defending Putin's alleged killing of journalists, etc.).

I as it reckless when Obummer said "they bring a knife you bring a gun"?

Lighten up Larry ffs. The Press know full well that he is joking but are determined to use anything to bring Trump down. Having said that, Trump needs to be more media aware and become more circumspect. The motive is quite clear though, the MSM wants to deflect attention from Seddique Mateen, the father of the Orlando nightclub shooter. He was attending a Hillary Clinton rally in Kissimmee, Florida, placing himself prominently behind the presidential candidate as she spoke to supporters. Maybe you could explain how Hillary Clinton didn't know that the father of an Islamic terrorist was at that rally and what kind of message does that send out?

Again, there is no reason to think the press did not recognize it as a joke. It's not appropriate. Why would we want him joking in the political context about something that we would not even let a late night comic get away with without some sort of warning.

He's not going with your narrative, that it was a joke, anyway.

Not only was Mateen there, he nearly scored a front row seat and got his mug on the tube. I doubt that's easy to do. The father of a notorious mass murderer/terrorist and an avowed Islamist, front row, at a Hillary rally. And a murderer of gays, at that. Hillary should feel blessed her name isn't Donald Trump lol. Could you imagine the outrage?

No wonder they went into deflection mode at the first opportunity.

Trump should be more circumspect---to the extent it would matter, since the media will stalk him for the slightest misstep. That said, they came close to over playing their hand on this one. Trump could have been joking; or, he could have simply been alluding to the possibility the second amendment people, presumably the NRA [lawyers], could stop Hillary in the courts.

That was the context of remarks. The fact is you can't know for sure.

This little game could backfire on the Hillary branch of the media. Assuming people pay sufficient attention.

Liberals are going to continue to use the "spaghetti against the wall approach" and are hoping that if they do it long enough, that they'll be able to get SOMETHING to stick.

Their desperation is too be pitied.

There is nothing humorous about Douchebag Donald. If he really wants to dispense justice upon Crooked Hillary, just run a successful campaign against her, become President, and appoint a competent AG to run the DoJ.
