Southern plantations/cotton/other crops? Black people. They were THE engine of the southern economy. Full stop. To a huge degree they still are (look at the disproportionate number of "essential workers" during the pandemic who are black and brown).
Farms throughout the west and southwest? Mexican-Americans (many of whom owned the land before whites stole it).
Farms throughout the entire country right now? Migrant labor.
Minorities in this country make America go. Who cleaned up the capitol after a bunch of treasonous crackers trashed it? People of color.

The problem for the Left is she is everything they despise in a Black: She was from an upper middle class family, her father was a lawyer, she was a school teacher. The family was well known in New York's literary circles and her mother a published author.
Successful, affluent, and well-educated as well as part of "proper" society. She used the established system and got results. All of that is anti-thematic to the Left. It represents everything they purport to hate.
