Nope... battery is the criminal charge brought against someone who initiates the violence. Just as murder is the charge brought against someone that does not kill in self defense.

The actual physical contact may be the same in self defense and battery, but they are not the same. Just as a shooting death can be either self defense or murder.

One year since zero Zimmerman instigated an altercation with a boy out to buy candy. If only Zimmerman had not gotten in over his head or been able to defend himself against an unarmed young boy like a man should be able to, then he would not be facing a murder charge. So striking someone can be done in self defense? You assume Trayvon's guilt but not Zimmerman's. Why?

You're distinguishing between violence and racially motivated violence. Now if you can show me where I said we only focus on regular violence you too can have a cookie. Maybe if you scream diversionary tactics enough you can distract from the part where people will ignore the murders in their own neighborhood last week to argue about the death a year ago of a boy 500 miles away.

So what's the real diversion here?

Diversionary, here is the exchange. In no place did I say what you claim I said. Further, murders in Chicago have nothing to do with this. And to claim that people get outraged about this ignore anything else, is an unfounded claim, and an attempted diversion. I'm done with this. You can have the last word, because answering any further would only make your tactic successful. Try it with someone else. There are plenty of stupid people here who will fall for this.
