I own many guns and have for over 45 years. Why haven't they murdered anyone?
Because you're not senile enough to have them stolen and haven't felt enough spite against others yet?

And yet deaths via motor vehicle completely surpass those deaths, per year.

Heart disease and Cancer surpass auto deaths. We actually have established laws to make cancer less likely. That includes EPA actions on air and laws about cigarettes. We expect our government to make us safer. Like preamble says" we promote the general welfare". We should have drastic limitations of guns.
