You could make the reverse argument in many instances. While I feel for you and your loss (honestly), people who own guns save at least 10x the number of people killed by guns every year, so denying them their ability to do so could possibly cost even more lives (I know you never advocated taking peoples guns away, but some make jump to that conclusion from your statements).
I'll need you to provide me with statistics that demonstrate that people with guns save 10x or 2x the lives lost by guns. I'm not sure how one would quantify that .. and, not calling you a liar brother, but I doubt that is true.
I don't advocate taking anyones guns away because I know that is an impossible task in America .. and, once I actually studied who is being killed and harmed by guns, including legal ones .. I want them to have more guns.
Anyone who believes that America should be awash in guns should have more guns. They should buy so many guns that they'll need a bigger house to keep them in .. and they should make their guns available to their children .. and teach them to buy many guns.
If guns make people safer, then why not have a bazooka? NO, I'm serious. I advocate allowing Americans to own bazookas.
The hope is that at some point in our mindless spiral into paranoid pussy-people is that intelligence will shine through. It will tell us that our love of guns was always a stupid idea. It defines us as criminals who love to kill things. In fact, our history defines us as just such beings. From the moment we stepped onto these shores .. "kill everything in sight" was the order of the day.
Bear, buffalo, cougar, indian, moose, raccoon, and anything else in gunsight. Lets walk around with guns on our hips looking real cool while we blast motherfuckers into oblivion.
Good thing they landed at Plymouth Rock and not on the African continent because there'd be no lions or elephants left. However, when they did land there, guns came in real handy for stealing human beings .. then come back later and shoot all kinds of shit for "sport."
Ever read about Christopher Columbus's second voyage to America? He came back with many guns, cannons, attack dogs, and soldiers to mass-murder the very people who had saved his miserable life.
Pardon my musings brother but I know the American mind very well. I don't waste time arguing about gun control .. I want them toi have bazookas .. to kill themselves with, which is what many of them are doing with their guns. Middle aged white men have an astronomical rate of suicide in America and elderly white men aren't far behind. They kill themselves .. with guns.
Obviously being a white male in America ain't all it's cracked up to be.
