By the way a magazine is something you read in the doctors office. LOL

Clips originated with the 1911 .45 and is in common usage. Purists and self-appointed experts make a big deal about "magazines".

The bottom line is that both terms, clip and magazine, are used almost interchangeably today to describe a detachable device for feeding the action of a firearm. Before purists chime in, let me add that back in 1909 and 1910--as the United States was looking at adopting its first self-loading pistol for widespread issue--in U.S. Army Ordnance Dept. documents it referred to the detachable box magazine for what would become the U.S. M1911 pistol as, well, a clip.

Very few guns have clips. Neither the M-16 nor the AR-15 uses clips.
The 1911 pistol doesn't use a clip either.

Just looking at the projectile length and weight shows the 223 would do significent more damage as it tumbles inside the body.

During the Six Day War, Israel had Uzi equipped companies to fight in urban settings. The Egyptians were able to completely pin one of these units down by just standing 100 yards away. As long as they surrounded the Uzi carrying soldiers with rifles, and stayed 100 yards away, they could kill the Israelis, but the Israelis could do nothing to them. The Israelis had to call for help, and other soldiers came to rescue them.

The Uzi usually uses 9mm, but it is the same basic range as the .45.

Yes, but the AR 45 rifles are just as available today as the AR 15! Some people refuse to call them AR 45's and still call them 45 caliber AR 15's !

When you go into a gun store today, and ask to see an AR-15, they will ask you what Chamber size?

I have. I really dislike the M-16, particularly the telescoping stock ones. I dislike the sight picture, find it uncomfortable to use, and in general, just don't like it.

Not really sure what you mean by "high caliber". The AR-15 has smaller caliber, with higher speeds. Most guns are semi-automatic these days.

The AR-15 was designed as a military rifle. It has a high rate of sustained, accurate fire. They say that the AK-47 is the best gun if you want to kill everyone else in a room. Well, the AR-15/M-16 is really good if you want to kill almost everyone else in a room, while sparing one or two specific ones.

I would argue that 9mm stacked magazine pistols are more lethal in America. They are more easily carried. You have to know that you plan to go on a killing spree to carry an AR-15.

The military doesn't bother with AR-15's. It is not a machine gun.
The AR-15 isn't just used as a mass murder weapon, dumbass.

The small mass of the .223/5.56 rounds enables them to achieve a much higher velocity than the 7.62 round and therefore the total energy is much higher.

This is the real reason why AR15 AND M-16s are more lethal.

It is high velocity and long, so it tumbles after entering. It leaves a bigger cavity than a .45 would. So it is a smaller caliber, but still a serious weapon.

A .22 pistol is a serious weapon. So is a sword.

Actually you are wrong. Larger caliber hand guns produce a higher KE but the 223 has a velocity that produces a large shockwave. The shockwave is what causes the most damage.

I don't really hunt Hogs or Hunt in areas where Grizzly's are, so I really don't need an AR weapon like that personally

However, I did encounter a Black Panther while Deer Hunting once!

But a lot of people do hunt in dangerous situations at their own risk! And the AR-15 is the weapon of their choice!

The down side to this is that smaller, lighter, rounds lose velocity faster over shorter distances than a larger, heavier round. That makes the smaller round very dangerous at shorter ranges, but at longer ones the heavier round comes into its own. That's why military sniper rifles, and rifles for big game use large, heavy bullets. They can reach out and touch someone where the puny .223 can't.

WRONG. The AR-15 makes an excellent hunting weapon as well.

I prefer the Remington .222 bolt action for "varmint." That thing is a tack driver at up to 200 yards.

A .22 pistol is a serious weapon. So is a sword.

My favorite home defense rifle is the Ruger 10/22 with a 30-round magazine and a low-light red dot scope. You can mess someone up totally with that and not worry about where the rounds will backstop. Of course, a Remington 870 12 ga is preferable, and last but hardly least is a pistol in at .25 or larger caliber--the bigger the better.
